I finished the grind for Baird this morning, I popped open a can of the energy caffine drink to get a boost code to level Baird up faster.
It was purple flavour - it didnt taste good.
Horde match making is borked - you can never get a full 5 players, so the best bet is to join custom games. There all listed with details of map, etc, - and also a user titel like "everyone welcome" or "dont join if youre gooseberry fool", that type of thing. Some of them are in the lobby, some in progress and you join and displace bots. Since the last update the join in progress often makes the game crash, but thats not the point of my story.
Here is the fact - Some horde hosts are really precious little snowflake entitled banana splits that just booted me straight away for not obvious reason. And they can strawberry float off.
In the end i managed to get Baird to level 13. I think Overclock is at level 14.

Ive done more of the grind to raise Baird and Lizzy Carmines level to get their best cards to decent levels. Inconceivable Clock escape with randoms in custom is the best way to grind cards - ammo room on left, take time to kill next set of enemies, ammo room, then group run into the right room, down the left ladder, then right to the safe room. With Sisters to the end card Lizzy can then pop the silverback twice to make the next section and ending easy. In hoard - Baird with the right cards can bleed enemies with his barriers and get them to self repair - Working as intended.

With Rod F leaving The Coalition for Diablo, Matt Booty has a interview about the future of Gears -
"We wish all the best for Rod," Booty tells us. "He has a huge amount of passion for the game and has shown a real devotion to the players and the community.
"Gears 5 represents a world class studio that is at the peak of what they can produce. It was one of the biggest games we've launched at Xbox Game Studios. We had three million players in the game during its opening weekend. So we're really happy with how that landed. It received game of the year nominations and accolades for some of its accessibility and diversity work that was in the game... all of that represents what the studio is capable of, the team that we built there, and some of the impact that Rod has had.
"As we go forward, the studio is going to continue working. We have a lot more coming up with Gears 5. We have new operations, content and maps... we have new DLC plans. There's a bunch of things that we're going to be delivering for Gears 5 throughout 2020. And then coming up more immediately, we have the turn-based strategy game Gears Tactics, which is content complete. We are on track to get that shipped by the end of April. We are going out on tour at the end of this month to give press a preview of the game. I feel really good about where the game is. While it is unfortunate that we're losing Rod, the timing makes sense from a production point-of-view as the game is already in place, and the senior creative leads on it are wrapping it up.
"Going forward, I deeply believe that one of the most valuable and important assets in the games industry are studios that have worked together and have shipped quality AAA games. Certainly, The Coalition is really a group of world class talent. We are also very fortunate that the leadership team that we have up there consists of a lot of senior veterans. So we're in a stable situation there, and it gives us the opportunity to go out and find a new leader for the studio and really shape the future."

He's done a good job oul Rod but I'm sure working on the one franchise for so many years could get tiresome, maybe a new head of direction will freshen up the games too, although Gears 5 was quite a change already but they could build on that and change it up even more.

Hopefully next gen they can expand on the open world stuff. I like the idea of more small stories and maybe a bit of survival stuff to the big stories that are very rarely rewarding.

To close out the segment on the power of Xbox Series X, The Coalition’s Technical Director, Mike Rayner, came up to show us how his team is planning to optimize Gears 5 for Xbox Series X. The team showcased a technical demo of Gears 5, powered by Unreal Engine, for Xbox Series X using the full PC Ultra Spec settings, which included higher resolution textures and higher resolution volumetric fog, as well as a 50% higher particle count than the PC Ultra Specs allowed. They also showed off the opening cutscene, which now runs at 60 FPS in 4K (it was 30 FPS on Xbox One X), meaning the transition from real-time cutscenes to gameplay is incredibly smooth.
There were also some noticeable improvements in a few other areas as well. Load times were extremely fast, and the team was able to turn on some features that, while previously implemented, had to be turned off for the Xbox One X version. This included contact shadows (providing extra depth to objects) and self-shadow lighting on plants and grass, making every scene feel more realistic. Rayner also shared that the game is already running over 100 FPS and that the team is investigating implementing 120 FPS gameplay for multiplayer modes, giving players an experience never before seen on consoles. Most impressive of all? The fact that the team was able to get all of this up and running in a matter of weeks.
The team also announced that they will have an Xbox Series X Optimized version of Gears 5 available at Xbox Series X launch, which players will get free if they own the Xbox One version of Gears 5 and will leverage Smart Delivery depending on which console you’re using.
