My mum has has a 32 inch TV in her living room and I struggle to watch it as I find myself getting distracted by all the space around it. You should get at least a 65 inch or I’ll have a word and see that you get an IP ban.

Yeah, I think I just need to get used to a bigger screen. I'd probably go for a 42" as that seems to be the minimum nowdays. TV tech is a bit of a minefield right now, though; there are so many different aspects to look out for, especially around different types of HDR, HDMI and refresh rates.

Oh, and manufacturers still seem to be offering minimal HDMI sockets on "smaller" sets!

I'm looking to upgrade my TV soon and I'm looking at at least 55", and might see if I can swing a 65 but don't know if I've got the space for it.

I've got a 65" tv and I'd go for a 75" inch one next time if I could. I'd have a tv fill the entire wall if I could.

Sounds like Eurogamer might be contemplating some form of paywall in the future...

Eurogamer wrote:Please fill in this survey about Eurogamer - and subscriptions

Hello! I have a favour to ask. We'd love it if you could take 20 minutes of your time to fill out this survey about Eurogamer.

It's a little different from the surveys we usually do, which are about building a picture of our audience and what they're into. This one is a bit more involved and is aimed at getting your opinion on what we can do to expand and improve on the website experience - including offering a paid membership or subscription option.

This is something we're looking at very closely at the moment, and if we're going to do it, we want to get it right, so your feedback would be very much appreciated. Your answers will be confidential.

I realise 20 minutes of your time is a lot to ask, so thanks in advance if you do decide to help us out. I'm very excited by what we might be able to do in the future to develop the site, and I'm looking forward to finding out what you think about it.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020 ... s#comments

Possibly more directed towards their live events business.

I was interested but the game is back up to full price on the PS Store.

(I searched for "Battleborn" in GR and we don't even have a thread for the game? :o ).

Battleborn goes offline for ever on 25 January and even the single player mode won't be playable.

Dang. I did buy the game but only played it a little; I thought it was pretty good. Feels bad that a game you purchased can be "turned off".

I went with a 65" and it's glorious.

Just sat through an advert on one of my crappy mobile games and it was for a random poker game, but the footage they chose to use for the advert was a clip of when you play poker in Red Dead Redemption 2 - complete with close-ups of Arthur Morgan

How do companies get away with such blatantly misleading advertising? Surely Rockstar/Take Two would jump on them with an army of lawyers and destroy the company, doesn't seem like it'd be worth the risk.

Yeah, but think of how much crap they've got to wade through before they even find it. I'm sure eventually it will get found out and taken down, but most of these people are probably first-timers who have little to no marketing experience (or any experience at all apart from development) who want to make their games look good. Like the dozen platformers that use Mario artwork. "It's just something that shows a representation of the game." "I didn't know it was wrong." etc. etc.

Or, they could be cheap cash-grabs with a developer who doesn't even care about anything except the money who will find some way to slip out of any C&Ds/lawsuits and move onto the next money-making scheme.

What sort of character do you guys tend to create when a game lets you choose?

I used to always just go for the stereotypical, heroic looking male but nowadays I mostly end up making a goth lady with dark eye liner and red/purple/pink hair.

I'd say it's a shame more games don't allow you to go fully nude, but then where's the teasing/fun in that? However, I will admit I got a trainer for GTA V so I could play as one of the topless character models, so I'm one of those who would say that.
__________

As for my character creating habits... I tend to use features that I have myself, but mix them up with a few wild choices. Unless I'm specifically wanting to create a character to fit the world.

I tend to make characters based on a chosen class, so warrior types are bigger, more muscular, rouges are smaller, slimmer, casters are tall and slim, normally with long hair etc.

The last character creator I used was Monster Hunter Rise where I went for someone vaguely me-like, but in western RPGs I normally roleplay and create a character to match whatever I'm going for.

Alternating min/max sliders is always fun tho

I usually try to create Garrett from the Thief games whenever a game gives me the option to customise my character's appearance and clothing. Then I try to roleplay the game as a thief and conduct myself as Garrett would.

Most of my game ratings are based entirely on how well they facilitate this possibility!

Spent a few hours going through the EU & US PS3 stores.
People gas that console up too much the biggest losses are probably going to be PS1/2 classics, Tokyo Jungle and Siren Blood Curse (disc is expensive).

Glorified MGS machine.

It’d cost like £200 to buy all the classics I want to play. Under a time limit the idea of spending it all at once to have them locked to my PS3 is off putting. If the store stayed open I could pick them off slowly.

Sony are mad if they aren’t gonna put this stuff on PS5.

For those who have a spare £1,100 lying around, Weta Workshop have opened pre-orders for their new Tomb Raider statue: https://www.wetanz.com/shop/figures/lar ... ost-valley

Aged her a bit too much in the face for my liking. Look at the size of it though!

I always create a brawler, hand-to-hand combat type character. Strength and endurance primarily, using swords, axes and shields, etc. Limited use of magic and stealth. Sometimes bows for those long-range kills. :datass:
