Push Square wrote:In a move that's already rubbing plenty of people the wrong way across social media, Tintin Reporter: Cigars of the Pharaoh developer Pendulo Studios has essentially just come out and admitted that the game is unfinished. Oh, and it's out today on PS5 and PS4. We hope you didn't pre-order!

"Despite our best efforts, those who play the game at launch won't be able to enjoy the experience as we intended it to be," reads the team's statement on Twitter.

"We are committed to fixing this situation in a promptly manner: we will deliver the necessary patches in the coming weeks while keeping all of our channels at your disposal for any issue you want to report to us directly," it continues.
Usually, this kind of statement arrives days or even weeks after a shoddy release, so we reckon this one might be setting some kind of record.

This is... odd. The game has been released but the developer says it's unfinished and, essentially, has problems? Good grief!

I enjoyed the base game well enough, haven't played the DLC. It's certainly nothing special, but if you're looking to just play through a game in the Aliens world and blast Xenomorphs with pulse rifles I think it's fun enough and probably worth it at less than £20.

Keep in mind though that if you are playing offline, the teammate bots can do a job on the lower difficulties but you won't be able to play through on the higher ones as they will be too difficult with the AI.

Cheers for that dude, I might give it a chance.

If you've got PS+ then Fireteam Elite is one of the free games this month.

EDIT: Just seen you've already posted about this in the PS+ thread

Yeah cheers for thinking of me dude

Played this last night by the way, glad I didn't bother spending any money on it as I found it pretty underwhelming. The controls seemed very floaty and the aiming was just... off, just couldn't get the right balance and it felt very disconnected. I'll probably give it another go but I doubt this'll stay on my home page for too long.

Ah fair enough, I enjoyed my playthrough of it but probably wouldn't have given it a second look without the Alien license to be honest. Good you held off paying for it anyway!

Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator, featuring "a large area of Barcelona", has been announced for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC:

Taxi Life is a city driving simulator based in the city of Barcelona

Venture into Barcelona’s buzzing streets as a driver to deliver passengers, cargo, and more. Complete time-based jobs, evade traffic jams, and road hazards, all while respecting the rules of the road. Discover famous city landmarks while building your transportation empire!

Title: Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator
Type: Driving Simulator
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series S|X
Early Access Release: 2023
Price: TBD

Description:

The most important aspect of Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator is learning and adapting to the hectic environment around you. You arrive in Barcelona with only a car and a dream to your name. As you go out and learn the streets, you quickly realize that each delivery task can bring on a variety of challenges. Managing impatient passengers, rush couriering, traffic jams, road accidents, stormy days, and city events are all part of the experience in Taxi Life.

Travel through the streets of a realistic Barcelona on a 1:1 scale picking up jobs and taking part in different scenarios. You can also grow and even start managing your own transportation company! Make sure you’re following the rules of the road, and keeping your customers happy to get the most out of every trip.

Open World

A 1:1 authentic recreation of the famous city of Barcelona, the second-largest city in Spain after Madrid. Experience Taxi Life in an open-world environment, where the player takes charge of his or her destiny. Experience the day-to-day hustle and bustle: pedestrians, traffic, and unexpected events.

Rules Of The Road

Realistic traffic rules with sophisticated AI systems making cars, mimic real world behaviors. In Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator, the AI cars will behave just like they do in the real world. Switching lanes, cutting players off or even just making the wrong turn. It’s up to the player to decide on how to handle these situations to get to their destination in a timely fashion.

Car Custimization

You’ll be able to move around the city in style with several different models of vehicles. Deep customization and management tools to choose the looks of your character, brand, cabin and vehicle performance. Look cool, even while taking grandma to see the kids!

Various Tasks

Over 200 of Barcelona’s most famous landmarks, historical buildings, parks, and sculptures. Take a ride around the city to enjoy the landscape in “free ride” mode, or give people a city tour visiting the different types of attractions and architecture.

Dynamic Weather

Dynamic weather which has an influence on the driving conditions. When it rains, adjust your braking distance to avoid a collision or turn on the AC on a sunny day to cater to your passengers request.

Vehicle Maintenance

Driving model which requires to control fuel and endurance level of the car with real influence on the driving experience. You know what they say, a happy car means happy customers!

Out February 2024. Would have been ideal for VR support.

Rape, murder, back-seat-bangers, drive-bys and high speed police chases not included. So a bit gooseberry fool really. But could be weirdly engaging, like many of these sim games seem to be. Frame rate looks a bit iffy in the trailer, but the graphics look alright actually. Nice to have a new location for a change too.

Taxi Life is by the same studio behind Train Life, which was a decent enough game. Simteract also seem a lot more passionate about this one, which is no surprise considering this city is where they're based.

Still no real news about KOTOR. I am not optimistic.

I've had the original KOTOR in my Steam library for 15 years and still haven't played it.

Giant bomb seem to have confirmed it is dead, no one is apparently working on it.

Thirty years waiting for a proper Flashback sequel, and the first opinions seem to be that it’s a buggy mess. And it’s more than £30. And I’ll probably buy it anyway, because I’ve been waiting 30 years.

Amazing stuff, Krik - thanks for highlighting the project.

It's so cool to see Portal running on the N64; what a tremendous achievement. It appears to be running surprisingly well!
