I hadn't realised this until now, but Godfall is only a limited-time exclusive for PS5. It can launch on other formats in May.

(We don't have a Godfall thread? :o . No, I'm not making a Godfall thread!)

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is £49.99 on PS5 at Amazon... and £51.99 on PS4.
Sackboy is £59.99 on PS5 at Amazon... and the same on PS4.
Assassins Creed: Valhalla is £51.99 on PS5 at Amazon... and, yes, the same on PS4.

These "free" upgrades to the PS5 version are effectively meaning that people wanting to just buy and play the games on PS4 are having to pay out for the PS5 version anyway. It kinda feels like Sony is gouging their own PS4 userbase.

This isn't just Sony doing it either; most Xbox games seem to be taking the same approach (albeit they usually have a single version of the disc rather than two).

I can't think of a previous generation where games for current gen consoles were increased to match the pricing of games on the new gen consoles.

When even jawa won't make a godfall thread you know the game is going to do badly

The more I see of it the worse it looks. So generic and dull.

Just to jump back on the demo bandwagon I felt PS2 was the worst for demos. Did the magazine also go up in price at one point?

I remember getting a few PS2 Mags where it had 1 demo on and the rest were just videos. Felt robbed

We're at the dawn of a new console generation! I'm so envious of you folk who are gonna be setting up the new Xbox and PS4 systems over the next couple of weeks! Looking forward to seeing new owners posting pics and sharing their experiences :-) .

If it feels better Jawa PS plus subscribers do get to download a bunch of big PS4 games so that's the other side of the coin, I hven't even played some of those so if I do get a PS5 chances are I'll finish or try them on that... Might expire at some point though (it probably will tbh).

Yes, OPS2 went up in price to £5.49 in 2002, increasing to £5.99 in 2003. The magazine was rather light on demos in 2001, and there was a bit of a rough patch in 2003 with a lot of repeating demos, but I can only remember 1 issue that had just the 1 playable and that was very early on with Tekken Tag Tournament (a repeat of 1998 that only featured Tekken 3). Apparently this was due to some sort of technical issue that only allowed them to run Tekken as a stand-alone disc. May have also been the reason Oddworld ran as a separate additional disc one month. Initially OPS2 used the blue CD-ROM before changing to DVD.

I think if anyone receives a PS4 in the post they're going to be a little disappointed Jawa...

Hee! :o . You know, it's odd how I was an Xbox gamer for the previous two generations but switched to PS4; and it has definitely become one of my favourite consoles - possibly the favourite.

That is genuinely one of the key aspects for me! :-). I've spent a lot of time (and money :shifty: ) collecting / buying stuff in the game and I'd have to start out afresh.

I really don't know whether I'll choose Xbox or PS5 as my next system; there are lots of pros and cons for both. Anyhow, it's a moot issue for now  .

Am I remembering correctly that you're still rocking an old 720p TV in your living room Jawa?

If so it might be worth holding off on a new system a bit longer and upgrading your TV if you can. You're missing out on a ton of the benefits with an older TV like that.

Dev, yeah, I do have a 720p TV (26") in my living room (my Wii and Wii U are connected to it!) but I have a 1080p screen (24") in my side room where I do most of my gaming (PS4 and Switch).

When I do upgrade to an Xbox or a PS5, I'll need to factor in a new TV for the living room, too. Maybe 4K but I wouldn't want a huge screen. I'm looking forward to the day when this dream becomes a reality :toot: .

As of midnight, with both the new Xbox and PS5 now launched, I will be a last-gen gamer :o .

I have Switch, of course - although I guess it doesn't really fit in with the console gen cycles right now?

I haven't had a current gen console since the 360 and PS3.

And Jawa, go for at least 55 inches, it seems massive at first but once its in you'll love it (/kennethwilliams.gif)

Nintendo are certainly doing their own thing and honestly I like it that they are, this way the Switch isn’t being almost forced into one of the other generations of consoles when it’s happily doing its own thing, it offers something quite different to the others so in that regard and in pure power it doesn’t fit with the other two, still just can’t help but love it though!

I’m current gen with my Switch and Series X though :datass:

True story... when I got my living room TV back in 2008, I ordered a 40" Samsung originally. I didn't even take all the packaging off it; it was just too big at the time. I returned it and got a 26" Sony instead, which I'm still using today. I think ideally I'd go for a 40" now as I've got used to them; but it appears that most screens are bigger than that now!

Oh, yeah, it's definitely a cool system, Robbo. The dual TV / portable play options make it a great choice!

Jawa is your living room a cupboard?

Seriously though, unless you genuinely have a tiny living room with no space for anything bigger, as long as you're sitting far enough away it's fine. I've got a 44" in my games room/office about 1.5m away from my seat and it's perfect.

It's up to you what you're comfortable with though.

I'm a bigger is better kind of guy with my TV's though. I want them as huge as my space can get away with.
