it shouldnt auto-renew unless you explicitly set it to do so. its not like your water supply or something: if you turn on your ps4 and your PSN sub has expired you can just buy a new one.

I agree that it shouldn’t be enabled or at least it should ask as Jawa suggested, however, 9 times out of 10 the person was told and ignored it so it isn’t amazon or don’t or Microsoft or insert name of company with a subscription model here that are “hiding” it the person just isn’t paying attention and then blaming someone else.

It shouldn’t just be on or they should ask, but, I get pissed off when the company is blamed entirely as if the person themselves had no way at all of knowing when they do.

I don’t like people laying the responsibility for their own stupidity on others.

The problem is that companies are exploiting people who don't read those messages. I'm not saying that people shouldn't be more careful with what they read but I don't think that companies should be able to easily exploit those that aren't careful with what they read.

I don't appreciate being called moron, I made sure to check it was auto off and I still got stung.

Plus I'm pretty sure it doesn't tell me that it has turned on auto renewal by default even if after you've turned it off. (Or I probably didn't think of it considering I renewed by code, not via psn - I added PayPal after)

Yes, people should be careful, but it's still gooseberry fool practice and the companies shouldn't do this.

As I said there 2 groups, idiots and people that are getting strawberry floated over, if you checked and still got hit it is on the company as they got an issue and something dodge is going on, it can’t be your fault if you checked if it was enabled or not.

The morons are the people that don’t read the message, don’t check and then the complain because they didn’t get hand held or whatever.

The thing is if people use code to redeem PS+ then why, by default, did it turn on auto renewal?

Most people probably didn't think it'd turn on auto renewal, I don't remember seeing checkbox of any sort when I added in ps+

Yeah that sort thing is wrong and shouldn’t happen, nothing should auto turn it back on, it should give you the option to turn it on, but shouldn’t just do it.

Unless you buying the sub from them rather then prepay.

If I'm ever feeling the old Imposter Syndrome creeping up (ie, all the strawberry floating time) I always have super popular YouTube review channels to fall back on:

This vid for eg, where this SkillUp chap spends 20 minutes essentially doing a read-through of the Kotaku Anthem article, offering almost no insight or opinion. 450 000 views.

Not really sure where else to put this but it seems Waypoint is ceasing to exist as a singular entity:

twitter.com/waypoint/status/1125394595154726912

It's being folded into the main VICE site and rebranding as VICE games.

Hmm

I know nothing of either VICE or Waypoint so have no idea if this is a good or bad thing?

VICE is one of the largest media conglomerates on the planet, catering almost exclusively to left leaning millennial interests. Gavin McInnes (he of Proud Boys 'fame') was one of the co-founders though he's now been thoroughly disowned.

Waypoint was Vice's gaming satellite and one of the most interesting voices in gaming. They did a lot of stuff about the politics and social effects of games, as well as stuff around work practices and game dev culture. Their podcast is a must-listen to anyone interested in gaming beyond review scores and previews.

This is...a thing. Not sure if bad, but probably not good. Ever since it launched Waypoint has tried to distance itself from the often overtly laddish Vice and to see them folded in is concerning. On the podcast they've often alluded to consistent budget cuts and interference from management so yeah. I'm concerned.

Ah OK, thanks for the info.

I do recall people mentioning waypoint and hearing good things about it but have never checked it out myself. I can see why this move would at least raise an eyebrow and make people somewhat wary of changes which may start to creep in.

Heard of VICE, notably their video/TV output, but wasn't familiar with Waypoint. Maybe now they'll get more coverage under the VICE banner.

Perhaps! We'll see. I am going to miss it as an entity though.

I've been keeping a keen eye on this and now that the reviews are looking largely positive I'm starting to get a little hyped now!

What platform you picking it up on Jawa?

as well as a healthy selection of modes and challenges that bring to mind how this developer once made its name pulling and pushing OutRun 2's core mechanics in fascinating ways in the brilliant Coast2Coast.

That kind of thing could just reel me in.

Uh-ho. Gamesradar reviews Team Sonic Racing and the dislike ratio goes through the roof.

I'm looking to buy a new game soon, and I noticed that Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Royal Edition releases for $40 on June 1st (or within a few days of then). It comes with all the DLC and looks like a pretty sweet little package. Do you guys think it'd be worth getting? I mean, they've had forever to patch the game up now, it should be a much nicer experience than at launch.

I think this is my favourite use of analogue controls since first getting my hands on a N64: https://play.date/ And it looks cute to boot.
