I got a copy of office 365 from eBay 2 years ago and a copy of Microsoft project a year ago and both have been fine (although I've not really used project, thought a fiver was an ok price to "trial" it)

Just make sure the seller has good rep and it shouldn't be an issue. It's a massive saving over RRP.

You can download the image from Windows directly and then just buy and OEM key for a fiver from a key store. They always work and you don't have to pay £100 and can use it multiple times.

You’re not really going to get any ‘traditional’ new windows laptop for 200 quid. Even though those specs would be terrible for windows, chrome will be less demanding so as long as you literally only browse and stream you shouldn’t have any issues (I think).

Also if you’re talking about windows laptops “filling up with updates rendering them useless” that would only be the case on gooseberry fool cheap ones with little storage that was barely enough to begin with.

Looking to buy a Surface Go to replace my Kindle Fire and am torn between getting the lower spec version (4GB RAM, 64GB SSD) for just over £300 or getting the 8GB 128GB SSD version for £400.

I'm leaning towards the higher spec model simply because its impossible to upgrade the RAM at a later date and I suspect Win10 barely runs with 4GB.

Obviously I'll be getting a 256GB microSD to go with either model as the onboard storage is pathetic on both.

I can't understand why anyone would think 64GB is adequate storage in 2019.

Ended up getting the 8GB model but paid £38 more as the site I was going to buy it from looked a bit dodgy so opted for amazon instead.

Also bought a 256GB microSD and a USB C to USB3.0 adapter.

hope you like it - ive had my 128/8gb model for about 6 months and i love it for what i use it for. so light as well.
i havent needed any additional storage as i just use it for word/powerpoint and browsing.

Devices with stupidly low storage annoy me. It is not that expensive these days, so they are just cutting back in the hope that the average buyer won't be able to properly access their requirements.

Decided it's time to start updating gooseberry fool in my PC so come payday I want to start with the GPU followed by the processor next month or the month after. I want to go for the RTX 2060 but before I do just want to double check it's compatible with my current motherboard (MSI h110m pro-vh ms 7996) kinda clueless as the only thing I've ever changed/installed is a new HDD in my PC but when I went to the support/compatibility page for that motherboard the RTX 2060 is there. Currently have a GTX 1060 (6GB), i5 6600 and 16GB Ram.

GPU's are always compatible as the connection type they use doesn't change. CPUs socket types change often and this will be where you get compatibility issues.

Yeah reading the compat list I can go as high as the 7th gen in i5's/i7's. Current i5 6600 isn't a K version but boosts to 3.9GHz so maybe after the GPU go for either the i5 7600K (Boost to 4.2GHz)

My PC's making a weird sound. Something like a weird, grindy (kind of "soft" though) fan noise. It starts a short while after turning my PC on (before the Windows login screen).
The fan noise slowly comes to a stop a few minutes after I've turned my PC on.
After the noise stops it doesn't start up again, even after hours of on-time and heavy use. No other problems or weirdness after that.

As far as I can tell with the side panel off it sounds like it's coming from the power supply.

Having a nightmare of a time after installing (well before and after really) a Cooler Master Hyper 212 in place of the Intel stock cooler. Keep getting BSODs. At first thought it was down to the recent Nvidia Driver so used DDU to remove it and downloaded the previous one. Worked fine at first as before that I'd play about 4-5minutes of a game and be hit with one and each one has been for something different (EVENT_TRACING_FATAL_ERROR, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT and one for something called dxgmms2.sys) all checks I've performed so far has been fine, temps are fine etc. Just waiting on a restart to perform Memtest as my final test. Memtest is on its final pass with 0 errors so far and I'm going to let it finish while I sleep so any ideas what else could be the cause of my BSODs? It's become a total ballache for me this has!

The whole before and after thing was me attempting to install the cooler, strawberry floated up somewhere with one of the plugs I'm guessing resulting in my PC trying to turn itself on over and over like turning on for a split second, powering down then trying to power on again in some weird cycle. So unplugged everything from the motherboard, switched the fan back to the Intel stock cooler and plugged everything back in and it booted up fine. Gave the new fan another try today and it works but now faced with the BSODs which at first I thought was due to the latest Nvidia Driver but it's not seeing as I'm still getting them and each one is a different error but occurs while gaming.

have you googled the BSOD error code youre getting?
only other thing id suggest is re-seat your memory and your graphics card (take them out, blow on them to remove dust etc, and then re-install).
sounds dumb but i fixed a weird error code just by reinstalling my graphics card once.

buy a new PSU, install it.
if it fixes the problem, keep it chuck away the old one.
if it doesnt fix, return the PSU and check again.

Done all that, re-seated everything and inside was clean but still got the BSODs. Ran Memtest which came back error-free and since then has been fine, really weird like using Memtest stopped the damn BSODs.

New cooler is great, big difference in temps. Next up is a new PSU and then a motherboard, current PSU doesn't have the 8-pin plug needed for my GPU so had to use a 6-pin to 8-pin adaptor
