I got a Japanese N64 a month or so ago, I just got the base unit no wires or pads etc for £15 then used all of the stuff from one of my pal systems, I also alters the cartridge port so it will take American or Japanese games. I do have an adaptor as well though

Cool, kerr - that's what I do - I use my normal UK power pack with my Japanese N64. I recall seeing someone posting about power (voltage) variances but, to the best of my knowledge, this doesn't matter as the main inards of the console itself aren't tailored differently.

I grabbed Thunder Birds Japanese cart only for the SNES for £3 and Sonic 2 for game gear cart only for £1

Got a boxed NTSC-J Diddy Kong Racing for doing time trials (and maybe speedruns) as it's (mostly) the fastest version of the game... Now I just need a Japanese console to play it on...
My PAL console is black, so I kind of want one that isn't black this time (maybe transparent blue or gold), so I'm keeping an eye out for a good deal... Fingers crossed something comes along. I'll most likely get a cheap loose cart to use for the shortcut times as well.

I was worried about mixing up my pal and NTSC N64 , when I was looking coloured import ones were a lot more, so I just got a colored ram cover a see through orange one...

That's a pretty good idea. I'd actually love one of the see-through orange N64s, those look class. They're too out of my price range, though.

I'm actually tempted to buy a black one now, as there's a couple of good deals floating around online, at the minute. I shouldn't have an issue with getting it mixed up with my PAL one as I'm planning on having it set up in a different room.

Why did you buy 2 carts?

Been sorting out my GBA games prior to selling them and have discovered that some of the boxes are missing or have damaged inner cartridge holder bits, obviously this will effect the resale value and as such I want to replace them. Can you actually get spare ones or is it just a case of buying some random shovelware tat on ebay purely to cannibalise the box innards.

I need to also buy a couple of cart only games to replace ones my sister has 'misplaced' but they're fairly easy to find titles so I'm not too mad at her.

I'm more annoyed about Metroid Fusion being in an unsellable condition due to water being spilled over it.

Some of those things like the metroid games you can buy just the box or manual for yeah. Or reproductions.

By the way I'm looking for a genuine metroid zero mission box seeing as your fusion one is buggered.

I never got past it as a kid. Without the internet I just couldn't figure it out. Like I said, it had enough give when you jumped up and down on it to make you think that was the method. In a pre-Internet age, I was on my own, and had no friends who owned the game.

I didn't get to see Ice Cap Zone and Launch Base Zone, until about 2002, when I realised I had lost the game and rebought it from eBay. I went through a bit of a retro phase around that time and bought Ristar and a few others that has passed me by.

Its surprisingly difficult trying to find a cheap 'donor' game to salvage its inner box from, I saw a few promising candidates for a couple of quid on Ebay but the photos of them were fairly crap and the sellers didn't mention whether the boxes were fully intact or not.

Its also interesting to see that the Pokemon games despite their popularity are actually worth a fair amount when fully boxed with manual - I'm quite chuffed to see that my copy of Fire Red could fetch over £40.

It's kind of the opposite. It's specifically because there are so many copies of a game there that finding one in half decent condition is like finding a need line a haystack. Say 90% of games aren't stored or handled well. For a popular game you just have more of those strawberry floated up copies.

I have a couple of terrible gameboy/gba games I could send you, although now you've given me the idea of checking the inner boxes of my valuable games first.

Oh and err I just remembered I have an industrial cutting plotter so I could reproduce as many as you want...

Today I spent £1 on a complete copy of Grand Turismo 4 for the PS2 which also happend to have a memory card in the case and the disc for Project Silpheed the lost planet in the case tucked into the manual. Not bad for £1.
