I just watched this Digital Foundry assessment of the Analogue Mega SG. Man, I'm envious of you guys that have got one! The excellent emulation and compatibility is so attractive; I'd love to get one in the future.

I'd buy one tomorrow if I could actually use it, I bloody loved my Megadrive and would love to play all my original carts upscaled to 1080p on a 55" TV :datass:

An hdmi adapter would be cheaper but you could try using the VIVO input of an older generation graphics card like Radeon x1800/900 or GeForce 7600/800/900 which take composite and s video.

Not strictly retro related, but not sure where to put this. I fancy playing the PSP ridge racer in my vita. It’s not on the store, but could at one point be bought on the ps3 and downloaded and transferred. Any idea if this is still possible? I searched the psn app and it doesn’t show, but not sure if the actual store on the ps3 would be any different?

Yeah, Ridge on PSP doesn't seem to be available on the UK store any more.

It is available on the US version of the store, though.

Hmm, any way around this?

I believe you can get around it by creating a US PlayStation account on your PSP.

It seems that the PSP can only have one account on it at a time, though; you switch between them depending upon which you wish to use.

Just set up a US one no bother. Need to reformat the machine, but with cloud storage for game saves it’s fine.

Apparently ridge racer 2 is better (but only in japan). Any idea how I would search and see if it’s on the Japanese store without going ahead and making a Japanese account?

Ridge Racer and Ridge Racer 2 are both available on the Japanese PS Store, LF :-).

I sorted it and got two. Very good!

Got some spare yen, any recommendations for japan only PSP or vita games folks?

Ideally ones I can play without any understanding of Japanese.

I don't know if any GRcadians live near to Warrington (I looked it up; it's midway between Liverpool and Manchester!) but a new retro arcade place is opening there on Friday 19 April.

Retro Arcade Warrington looks to be really neat; a large range of original arcade machines which are set to free play and you pay a single entrance fee to use them. Unfortunately the site isn't in my neck of the woods but hopefully a few folk here in GR will be able to try it out!

It really seems to have been almost silent on the retro front for me I paid 2pounds for a complete Japanese copy of MRC racing for the N64 a few days ago and got a complete copy of Sonic 2 for megadrive yesterday for 3pounds.

What systems are you talking about exactly? The original Elgato HD had a composite and S-Video breakout cable for retro consoles, but it may not have been great at 240p content (you may need to do some homework on that one - it's been a long time now since I had to use one).

Got a CIB Donkey Kong Country and a loose Chameleon Twist 2 to add to the "collection".

The box and manual of the DKC are a little beat up, but the cartridge is good and the Go Ape CD is present. Also got a good deal on both.

Picked up a few more OG Xbox games last week.

Got Chronicles of Riddick, Street Fighter Collection, Splinter Cell and something else that I can't remember just now, all for the princely sum of £10.

Not bad at all.

Check out some of our stuff!

OG Xbox just seems crazy cheap to collect for.

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Mainly because PC gaming has made a lot of the library redundant to a degree. strawberry floating fantastic machine for racing games though I might collect them to play on my 360.

There are a few games that go into double figures, but a huge amount can be found reasonably cheaply. Only one I can think off that goes for three figures, but that's mostly because of the controller.

Most likely. A huge number are ported to or from the PC.

Just remembered the fourth Xbox game. It was "The Thing".

Which is pretty damn good by all accounts.

I bought PGR 1 and 2, 007 Rogue agent, Splintercell 1, 2 and 3, fifa Street, Rugby 06 for the grand total of £4.25 from CEX. Every game was 50p apart from pgr 1 which was 75p.

For someone like me who never owned an OG Xbox this is a greta way to go back and experience the system!
