Ghost Sweeper Mikami was alright. Got to the second level boss but I wasn't amazed by it.

Jelly Boy 2 is damn good fun though, so good shout Kerr. Cleared the first "World" and started onto the second so I'm pretty sure I'll go back to it.

I also played a little bit of Cybernator, which is one of the Konami shooters I've always wanted to spend some time with. It's slow but good fun and a nice change of pace compared to something like Contra/Probotector or Gunstar Heroes.

So I'll probably be dipping in and out of Jelly Boy 2 and Cybernator for the next couple of weeks.

Cybernator is excellent, but it gets blood hard and speeds up a lot towards the end in terms of enemies. It was pretty much impossible to complete without save states. Reminded me of sin and punishment a bit.

The trick is to use the melee / energy ball type attacks a good amount and take one enemy at a time on the platforming parts. With the upgrades you can always slightly overwhelm each enemy. I think there might also be different weapon type effectiveness against certain enemies.

Infact there's one listed here that's already been pre-modded for playing both US and Japanese games - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nintendo-N64 ... 3944713713

And I'll need to go through that list, thanks Cora!
I figured Japan would have a literal ton of exclusive games, but I'm a bit less interested in games I can't understand :slol:

Did you ever make any headway on the NTSC N64 stuff Laga?

I didn't I'm afraid! Not yet anyway. I ended up getting distracted by buying a modded original Xbox :slol:

I'll probably take another look after Christmas. I still think going the route of getting a US N64 will be the easier route to go.
Though I also need to go through the list of NTSC exclusive games to see if I actually want any of them to make it worthwhile.

Spider-Man and THPS3 are big draws for me, as is Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine. I wouldn’t mind a collection of US exclusive games and an NTSC N64.

Just picked up Micro Machines 64 for £6 on the eBays, which is a reasonable price. Put in a load of stupid lowball offers for rare games too which I’m sort of hoping don’t get accepted because I think my wife might chop my hands off to stop me from going on the internet. :slol:

Spider-Man and Indiana Jones at least would be ones I'd look at, not so much Tony Hawks

I didn't even know there was a Micro Machines game on N64. No way it can compare the Mega Drive one though :datass:

I also won a copy of Track and Field. Shiiiii-

SORT OF EDIT: Indiana Jones is super rare as I think it was a Blockbuster exclusive, but I think you can get Spidey fairly cheap.

Someone's put a copy of Aidyn Chronicles up with a 99p starting bid. This is one of the rarest(well, highest selling) games on the N64. Let's see what this ends up at, if it's still fairly low come Friday I might take a shot at the title...

You guys mean Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 right? 3 was never released on the N64 I thought, but 2 was basically the last noteworthy PAL release before the GC launched. It might even have launched after the GC (and THPS3).

Thps3 was the last N64 PAL release. I think its the one you were referring to. It came out after the N64 had been abandoned.

You’re both wrong. THPS3 was an NTSC only N64 release that was rather bizarrely released in 2002, the last one on the system at all prior to 2019. THPS1 was the last PAL release in December 2001, inexplicably coming out several months after THPS2 in the EU.

Technically the final release on the console is 40 Winks, which got PAL and NTSC releases last April, but clearly that doesn’t count.

And Aero Fighters Assault. This is the second time in three months that I’ve made the mistake of putting a bunch of stupid offers in that collectively add up to more than I’m willing to spend in a month. Really hope the offers I’ve put in for, err, Tom and Jerry’s Fists of Furry and Excitebike 64 don’t come in...

Let's hope they aren't games that you already have.

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

I mean, I wouldn’t have bid for them if I already had them.

Just ensuring that you know what you have and what you still need.

Corazon de Leon, just last month wrote:So I keep track of my collection on Retro Collect and I thought I'd go through everything today and make sure I've got the correct games noted down - I've somehow managed to mark Off Road Challenge, Top Gear Overdrive, World Cup '98 and Virtual Pool '64 as owned, when I don't actually have them in my collection.

That's the other way round - I wouldn't be buying something that's already ticked off, and I now go through the collection regularly to make sure I've got everything right. :D

Yeah Cybernator is rock solid. Can get to the second boss but rarely with enough health to do anything. Brutal in places.

I've also been replaying Donkey Kong Country and beat that into submission last night . I didn't think I'd completed it before but everything about it seemed really familiar, even the boss fight against K.Rool so I'm not sure if I actually had beat it as a kid and had just forgotten.

Also have a nice boxed SFC copy of Starfox on the way. Just F-Zero and Super Metroid after that and I think I've got all the Super Famicom games I really want.

I'm already planning my next system revamp/expansion and the NES seems to be calling me. Everdrive for it is a bit cheaper (£90 ish) as well which is nice. Apparently modding a PAL NES for 60Hz is expensive and tricky so I'm thinking that I'll just refurb it and use it for PAL ROMs (Like my PAL SNES).

It does mean that for NTSC ROMS that I'm now looking at getting a Famicom which are all reasonably priced, even for the AV modded ones (Necessary as Japanese RF won't work over here). I'll also look to combine it with a Famicom Disk System so I can get JP copies of Metroid, Mario Bros 2 and both Zelda games (Though I think there are some cart versions). The interesting thing is that instead of a Famicom + Disk System, I could pick up a Sharp Twin Famicom (Combination Famicom & Disk System in one unit) for roughly the same price and it comes with the AV output as standard so no modding required (Beyond potentially replacing the drive belt). It's also more of a curio, but I also quite like the look of the original Famicom/Disk System. Hard to choose, though it'll probably be after christmas before I begin to look at it properly.

Check out some of our stuff!

I did complete the game but it was virtually a perfect run on Wii u using endless save states. Really enjoyed it, I think I took an all nighter playing it. It's worth crunching through just for the spectacle and the great pixel sprites and projectiles.

Your nes sound great. Must say I am quite happy with pal conversions on the nes and don't really notice the sluggishness, but I am tempted to mod my MD as shmups definitely suffer as well as the obvious sonic differences. I already have one NTSC game anyway (Alissa dragoon), which works on a pal md-1 (a lot of NTSC carts do, so you can kind of build an NTSC library on the side anyway and then mod or pick up a Japanese system later).
