Gonna start it tonight if all goes to plan. It's been sat in my collection for about 3 years now, completely un-played.

With the exception of The Walking Dead episodes I've decided not to buy any more games this year so as I can get and play the ones I've already got. Sly 2 was, I think, my last game purchase.

Very tempted. Gave that to my ex seing as she's now stuck at home with morning sickness and has nothing better to do. I'm kind of jealous, I would love to have nothing else to do aside from rest and play Mario RPG..

Ended up playing Battle Circuit with a friend, one of the better Capcom scrolling beat em ups. It plays a lot like Captain Commando but you can upgrade your character with coins to unlock special moves.

Even back then Capcom were fleecing gamers for content already present.

Played through it for the first time earlier this year. Straight in as one of my favourite games ever.

It's not a crime, it's a travesty!

Other than Galaxy 1 & 2, The Thousand Year Door is probably the best Mario game.

So, I just found out that in the arcade version of Duck Hunt, you can shoot the dog

This version needs to come to Virtual Console.

Duck Hunt is nothing without Zapper, though. Zapper is what makes Duck Hunt alive; and is one of my favourite lightgun games available.

Once I got some space or move out first thing I'm getting is SDTV for lightgun games :D Lightgun are really dying breed, although Wii/PS3 Move has excellent games so it's not dead yet.

I don't think the motion controllers today have the "snapiness" of a true lightgun game, might just be me?

Also lightgun games seem to have become more about rapid firing rather than the pixel perfect one hit shots of the original Virtua Cop (which is still the greatest lightgun game ever due to the scoring system), you can see how The House Of The Dead series has degraded as proof :(

The hell are you talking about?

House of the Dead Overkill IMO is the best one.

I'm not sure about the mechanics of how they work but I don't think a motion controller works in the same way as a lightgun. Might be someone with more knowledge than me about how the mechanics of each work.

Light guns work by detecting a small white square that appears on the screen for 1 frame when the trigger is pressed. The Wii Remote pointer works by detecting the position and orientation of the sensor bar, and extrapolating screen position from that.

I suspected it was something like that, thanks. They feel different to me like your dragging the cursor around with Move/Wiimote and they aren't as accurate.

With the degrade in the House Of The Dead series I was talking about the numbered games rather than Overkill Staydead.

Yeah, House of the Dead 3&4 are nowhere as good as House of the Dead 2.

That said, I know some arcade lightgun games used a similar system to the Wii remote pointer, with an array of infra-red lights around the screen. Not sure if House Of The Dead was amongst them.

Having a MAME party on Saturday, anyone suggest some games? Preferably 4 players co-op beat em up or scrolling shooter whatever. Turtles in Time HAS to be done for the opening theme alone. Sunset Riders too, YA HOO! *pew pew*

Just found out while looking for a video of Sunset Riders there was a spritual sequel/prequel of sorts, featuring NINJAS!

So yes, suggestions please. Might do Knights of the Round though done that so many times, is Aliens vs Predator worth playing through? Not done that.

Any game that allows you to DDT aliens is worth playing.

SNES is by far the best looking games console out there, wish I still had mines.

Sold it for like £40 with gooseberry fool loads of games. Worst. Decision. Ever.

Playing Sly Raccoon on PSN. Good game, but with a lot of niggling flaws. The double jump is just awful. You'd think it's one of the first things they'd get right, but it's so imprecise. Camera is a pain in the hole at times, too. It's way too low and the fact that you can't adjust it up and down whatsoever is almost insulting. But I'm enjoying it regardless.
