Out of curiosity when did you get hold of your PoR copy?

My original XBOX collection is coming along quite nicely. I've picked up 15 games this month and bar a couple of games I don't think I've paid much more than a couple of quid per game. Granted some of them aren't the best games around but the low cost of many of the games means I'm far more likely to take a punt on a title I might not have otherwise tried.

Slightly disappointed by a few games being missing their manual and one having the wrong version of the game in the box (Classics line disc in an original version box). With this in mind I need to get into the habit of checking the manual is there before buying.

Is the Retrocollect link in your sig up to date? Had a quick browse, pleased to see you've got PGR2, such a quality game. You need to get Burnout 3.

I could be interested in taking it, but you would be better off selling it on eBay. I couldn't justify paying the going rate as I'm not sure I'd play it.

Yeah, it's up to date. I just bought the XBOX last month and starting picking up games shorty after. Both PGRs were 50p each. They are both complete but the box for PGR 2 is a bit grubby and could do with a clean.

I have a rapidly expanding list of games in my head that I want to pick up since I keep thinking of titles I missed out on years back that I want to try out. The Burnouts are already on the list as it happens... wasn't there some sort of XBOX exclusive directors cut of one of the Burnout series or was that only in America?

I have a copy of Pokemon Red back at my parents place but it was left on the window sill in my old room for years after I moved out so the label is all faded. I think my brother tried it in his GBA a few years back and surprisingly my save file was still intact.

One of the copies of Pokemon Yellow I have has damage to the lable and a few marks on the plastic , I was given this one by my brothe,r he found it when he apparently ran over it in a car park years ago. It worked a treat when he gave it me and it still works great bless Nintendo and there hard wearing carts lol

I once dropped my original Gameboy down a fight of concrete steps near my grandad's house and unbelievably it only suffered minor scuff damage to the back, still works 26 years later.

I remember that Iraq one being in magazines and stuff it is pretty awesome to see it, I know they kept it for years in a Nintendo store powerd up and running , not sure if its still there now.

I enjoyed the Thing a lot I hope you do too. Serious Sam is one of those games I always like chucking on for a quick blast. I'd say you got dome good stuff.

Just found my brothers old Gold Pad N64 at my parents house, though no Power Supply, but can get one on eBay for less than a tenner.

I've had N64,s from carboots covered in mud, ones from wet sheds etc they've all worked I'd say your odds are very good.

This one's been sitting in a box (Still in the original polystyrene foam) for years, so sounds like it should be ok if I can get hold of a power supply.

What's the best (non-mod) way of connecting an N64 to a modern TV? I know the best way is an HDMI mod, but that's fairly expensive and I think requires some soldering. I'd rather just a fairly inexpensive cable that's better than the Coax cable that's in the box.

I just use a scart type cable for it, looks good enough to me.

Just read that, thanks for the link. Trouble with golden ages is that they always end, but I'm grateful to have been a kid during the height of gaming magazines. Kids today most likely won't experience reading an actual physical gaming magazine and I think that's a shame. But by the same token, time marches on and there's no stopping progress.

The excitement of a new magazine hitting the shelves was like actually getting a new game. In the pre-internet days it was your initial source of news. The first issue post E3 was always a big one.
