Got a slim ps2 all wires 2 official pads, a memory card and 4 games goldeneye rogue agent, the lord of the rings the return of the king, star wars battlefront 2 and kingdom hearts (all of them boxed but with kingdom hearts missing its manual) for 10quid.

That's an excellent bargin. Had my own Slim PS2 for years and it's still going strong. Great little console.

Hey, Dig Dug, I've only just seen this post... this sounds like a huge-but-cool project! Fifteen vids a week! The idea is interesting; a short, sharp sixty seconds of game info.

I have watched your first vid, Fantasy Zone, and your most recent two, Star Fox Adventures and Prince of Persia. I could see clear improvement! In Fantasy Zone the sound of the game was a little loud in comparison to your voice, but the levels were set much better on the last two vids. Your script delivers a quick, succinct summary of the games. The only suggestion I can offer is that they could be even better if you slowed down your speech; you have good elocution and it could be enhanced by a slightly slower delivery. Well done, man!

Went to a local Indy game shop and got a loose n64 pilot wings cart for £5 and then the network disc for the ps2 with case and manual for £5. I have had the ps2 network/hardrive adaptor for years but never had the disc, I ended up using a macboot memory card to use it, not sure ill start using it the proper way but its nice to have the option.

Not sure everyone would call it retro but got a wii for £7.50 today it has all its wires and 2 nunchucks but no remote, but it did come with wii sports in a paper case and then 4 games all boxed with instructions wii play, the bigs, tna impact and tiger woods pga tour 09 (the last ones still sealed).

Feels like ages since I've posted on here! (probably because it has been...)

Anyway it was my birthday the other day and my wife got me something ive been after for ages, a GCHD MK2! So now I can finally get the best image quality out of my cube(s) and more importantly, stream to Twitch using real hardware!

Also the other day I popped into my local CEX and picked up these two awesome games! Not sure if I ever completed Bounty Hunter so I'm looking forward to playing through it again (possibly a stream???).

Also Ive had some time off so Ive taken the opportunity to move my games room around. It now feels less claustrophobic.

Thanks Jawa its been mad the last few weeks! I used it to stream RS2: Rogue Leader last night and it looked great! I have to say I prefer playing with scanlines on but it doesnt look too hot on stream (that comes down to me though, I need to go into the GCHD menus and adjust the scanlines so they look better on stream!). I have to say though without scanlines and on a smaller laptop screen (rather than the 32" tv im playing on) the image looks so nice and smooth and crisp! Will be interesting to see how it looks when streaming games via the Gameboy Player!

Yes! It's arrived!

I have got my copy of Sega Master System: A Visual Compendium, the latest title in the series by Bitmap Books.

You can check out a few snapshots above; it's very well made with a lush, glossy feel and pages that are well laid out. I backed the project via Kickstarter and this edition comes complete with a slipcase adorned with a lenticular cover... it just looks great! Additionally, there are a few gatefold pull-outs, red and blue fabric page markers, and 3D glasses for viewing screenshots of the console's 3D games .

I'm gonna spend quite some time looking through this and enjoying the nostalgia. The book has a forward, and an interview, with Mark Cerny (yep, Sony's PS4 console architect) who formerly worked at Sega.

Excellent stuff and I really hope that Bitmap Books will go on to produce a Mega Drive version!

Wow, that's a beautiful book Jawa. Been having a look at the other Bitmap books and they really do look great, I might have to pick some up for myself.

I'm a big fan of nice gaming books, most of mine are Zelda related but I did recently pick up the NES Encyclopedia written by Chris Scullion (formerly of loads of UK gaming mags) and it's great. I find these types of books are a really nice way to find out about loads of games you didn't even realise existed!

They have, dude; for the Commodore 64, Amiga, NES, SNES and Spectrum and they've all been well-received. Each book is worth a look, in my view - I have the computer ones plus the latest Master System version.

...A Mega Drive one would be amazing!

It's a definite possibility, Doom. The Master System one was the first "official" book and Sega supplied some great info and support for the production. If a Master System one can be produced, I'd imagine that a Mega Drive one must be an option. I certainly hope so!

The guy making it was ill for a while and no one heard from him for ages, then he basically sent out and email saying what had happened and gave really good updates from that point onwards. Once he managed to start working on it again properly it was a pretty quick production schedule.

I tried it in a couple of scenarios last night, each time it's been on a Philips 4K TV. I do plan on trying it out on a 2012 Sony that handles 1080p and lower resolutions much better but haven't had a chance yet.

Firstly, normal PAL 50hz game straight from the console to my receiver....meh. It really doesn't look great. It outputs an interlaced image and is a jaggy mess that tears all over the place.

Second, PAL60 game straight from the console to my receiver. Much better! This is what I was hoping for. It's outputting a progressive scan image, all of the tearing has gone and the image as a whole it much improved. Main complaint it that it looks a little washed out colour wise.

Finally, PAL60 game from the console to the framemeister to the receiver. This is by far the best option. The image is sharp and the colours are vibrant.

I haven't tried a 50hz game through the Framemeister yet so will be interested to see how it performs with that. At some point in the future if I ever have time I'll attempt to get screen shots of the different options; if I don't forget / find the time.

I guess the main problem with 50Hz games is that the HD/HDMI standard is 30 or 60fps and there's no really graceful way of handling 50Hz content. Don't the N64 HDMI mods handle that OK though, I've seen at least one?

I don't think I ever had a TV that couldn't handle 60Hz though so I always held down B to set 60Hz mode as long as I can remember - even through RF adapter (it just made the wobbly scanlines move faster lol)!
