Great pick up Drumstick, I remember getting the bugged version the year it came out, where it didn’t show blood and erased all your earned money and unlocked characters and going back to HMV over that Xmas and trying to explain it to the staff...

I’m actually excited for the new AEW Wrestling game as it’s supposed to be using the AKI No Mercy control scheme.

Loved No Mercy so much!
The bugged version actually had the blood and when they fixed it all the blood had been removed from the game

Yeah, that's a nice pick-up for your N64 collection, Drumstick. I haven't really played No Mercy but I did really enjoy WCW/NWO Revenge!

If some of you guys are into wrestling, it could be worth taking a look at the new Wrestling Empire game on Switch.

Yeah I had a quick go on the demo, gave me some of those No Mercy vibes but the moves seemed really bare bones and it's janky as hell

Yeah when they patched the save data issue they accidentally removed blood.

How can you tell which version of No Mercy you have? Is it a serial number difference?

I wonder if there is a ROM where someone's got the blood and saving both working together.

I got a loose cart of Starwing for the SNES today for £2.50 , I like grabbing cheap games but when someone sells a game this cheap online I never get it , I mean cost wise there's the envelope, the postage, and the time taken visiting the post office etc take all of that out and what did they make like 80pence.

Check the bottom left corner of the cartridge. If it ends in "EUR", it's an original, if it ends with "EUR-1", it's the patched version. If you zoom in on my first picture you'll see.

I don't know how bad this issue was because I had the original version back in the day (it had blood) and despite putting in hundreds of hours, it never once wiped my save.

I had the save wipe version and it wiped my progress so many times I gave up trying to unlock stuff or make CAW’s

I have such fond memories of No Mercy. From the first run at a championship I made (Intercontinental) and struggling to beat Benoit in the cage at the end; to Triple Threat Ladders Matches with my friends that sometimes lasted >30 mins.

Also can't forget those epic Survival matches where the longer you go the more secret characters you unlock. And buying the Ho for $500,000 from the Smackdown Mall.

I have 8 decent CIBs now, unsure if I'll be able to pick up any more for a while as there's quite a few upcoming Switch games I want.

Anyone else get sent 2 copies of the latest Retrogamer? I feel bad, I definitely only have 1 subscription so they've clearly made an error.

It's got a nice PS2 blueprint front cover, maybe I could frame it.

I installed some GBA games on my son's 2DS (if I could buy them on the eshop, I'd spend a fortune) as he kept bugging me for a lack of games to play and he hasn't put Minish Cap down in a week. I haven't played it in years but it really is the best 2D Zelda.

Finally got all my retro-pickup through the post.

Put my Christmas money to good use and went Famicom crazy!

Image

So starting top left we have a Hudson branded famicom controller, and a 3rd party extension cable meaning I don't need to be a foot away from the damn thing now.
To the right we have boxed copies of Dragon Slayer IV (Known as Legacy of the Wizard in the west) and Gradius, followed by an NES to Famicom convertor, that allows me to play NES games on the Famicom.
Bottom left is my Famicom Everdrive N8 Pro. This is most likely the last everdrive I'll be getting for a while. I've got them for all the systems I really need them for now.

Then finally we have a US NTSC copy of The Legend of Zelda and a Hard case with artwork to store it in.

Played Wild Guns on the SNES app and really liked it. Any other gallery shooter recommendations, preferably with co-op? The genre is new to me

Not retro (or a "gallery" shooter when I think about it) but Bot Vice might be to your liking. Also I believe wild guns got a reboot game called wild guns reloaded.
On the older side there is also sin and punishment and Nam-1975. There's also Cabal which is where the term "Cabal shooter" comes from.

I saw Bot Vice on the eshop, I think it was on offer pretty cheap. Might see if that is still the case.

I think Wild Guns Reloaded is a remaster? It looks really good though, adding extra characters (one is a dog) and it's still pixel art which is nice. It's like £18 though which seems a bit steep considering I can play Wild Guns on the SNES app.

Not heard of cabal but sounds like "cabal shooter" is the specific genre Wild Guns gets classified in because of the player movement? I'll check it out!

How on earth did you avoid that?! Happened all the time for me!
