You don't get locked out of anything on the first location when you move to the second.

I'm a bit concerned about being able to see this through now. Played a lot the last few days and made it to Act 2 but it's starting to feel a tad repetitive. Particularly not being able to go 20 metres in the overworked without running into Mongols.

Time for adventure

switch it up a bit - do some exploration or collectables, or vice versa - that helped me when it was feeling a bit 'samey'
got the grappling hook now and picked up two awesome looking charms - pity ive still only got 2 major charm slots, hope i can get a 3rd at some point?

also it makes sense in-game: if youre constantly running into Mongols - stay off the roads and youll encounter them a lot less

Don't the Mongols thin out of you take down camps? They're not too hard to avoid, if you want, I'm actually enjoying every encounter, so I always get involved if I see some.

You get another slot by doing fox dens or shrines I think?

Started this after finishing TLOU 2 and just not feeling it. Basically got to where Jin is tossed over the bridge but I can’t shake the idea it’s just not as polished as TLOU 2 especially gooseberry fool like walking over a body and you actually walk through it. And strawberry floating footprints, was I not noticing or does he not leave prints when walking through mud or sand?

Yeah I can see how it would be a tough one going from TLOU2 which is polished to strawberry float but it's linear not open world.

See I haven't played TLOU2 yet, saving it for PS5. You deffo can see footprints when Jin walks through mud though, I've noticed it myself.

I have came across things like the foxes popping through the ground and Jin getting stuck in the jumping animation when trying to climb etc but sometimes you get bugs like that in massive open world games. I'm sure they'll patch it.

Instead of picking this up I've gone back to Days Gone first, as I never got too far first time, and boy that is an adjustment coming off the back of TLOU2

Yakuza executive director Toshihiro Nagoshi has praised Ghost of Tsushima and says 'Japan should've made it.'

In a recent Sega livestream (via Hachima), Nagoshi was asked about his thoughts regarding the game’s success. “To be honest, we [Japan] were beaten,” he replied with a chuckle. “Yeah, of course, we’re losing. Honestly, I think that’s a game that should be made in Japan.” But, he continued, you can tell that the developers did a massive amount of research.

“Foreigners who tickle the fancy of Japanese people more than Japanese people are...rather amazing, no?” Nagoshi added, “There’s like a notion that Westerners don’t understand things (about Japan), but that hypothesis itself is mistaken.”

The Sega exec also praised other elements about the game, including the directional wind, and how the game offers players the ability to explore in a natural way while balancing a story without a heavy guiding hand. “It’s so great,” he said.

“I don’t know the actors who did the motion capture, but the care given to their expressions is impressive,” Nagoshi continued, adding that he performances were outstanding. He was also impressed with the glances and looks the characters give during the cutscenes. He pointed out that, at Sega, this was something his team aimed for, explaining that this sort of detail of time-consuming.

“The protagonist [Jin] isn’t a particularly handsome lead, don’t you think? At your typical [Japanese] company, if you showed concept art for a character like him, I don’t think it would be approved.” The marketing team, he continued, would offer all this data stating why such a lead character was a bad idea, and that would be the end of a lead like Jin. Nagoshi thought it was amazing that such a protagonist was the lead character.“All this money and development time is being spent on this middle-aged dude.” He applauded the resolve to entrust things in such a character. From what Nagoshi said, it doesn’t seem like that would be possible in Japan. Perhaps he thinks game companies would prefer a younger protagonist, which is certainly more common in Japanese games.

“There are numerous things I bow my head to, like aiming at setting a game in that time period...I could go on and on,” said Nagoshi. “I feel an earnest sense of a job well done.”

It's really heart warming to see a studio applauding another studio for a job well done. I want this game more and more so I imagine I'll either pick it up next month, unless I wait to play it on PS5.

Spent 45 hours with TLOU2 and going straight GoT after still blew me away and continues to do so. Both these games have an art direction they consistently excel at. I personally haven't once felt like GoT seems like a lesser experience. I guess it's just perspectives.

Anyway, I think I'm finally near the end of Act 1 lol. The Grapple Hook feels satisfying as heck, I kinda regret not getting it sooner. Wish the game would track playtimes but I might be roughly between 25-30 hours if I had to guess. Game is just a dream to play for me atm, it's kinda making me emotional.

I always think it's weird how you slice through guys and nothing happens, no armour damage or anything, it looks so weird and videogamey.

That's the game finished and plat'd.

A solid 8 game for me. I loved the characters, the main story and some of the side quests. It have the same classic problems with most open world games have... it's very repetitive. The combat feels superb, but would like to see more details like Fade says.

Definitely better than one of my favourite PS exclusives, Days Gone but both are superb and good fun to play.
