I would say that it would be released in the second half of 2020, seeing that the Last of Us Part II got delayed into June. More likely to be September?

Yeah, any later and it would likely be a cross gen PS4/PS5 release (Unless they patch the PS4 version when PS5 releases)

Holy crap at the animation when he takes the mask off  He looked relieved – very unheroic. So I get the feeling The Ghost is a reluctant hero, like he's been pushed into this course of action by others.

Genuine question here... What are people seeing here that's so amazing? To someone with no real knowledge of the game outside the few trailers it just looks like samurai Assassin's Creed.

Games wot I worked on:
Night Call: Out now!
Rip Them Off: Out now!
Chinatown Detective Agency: 2021!
EXOGATE Initiative: Early Access Summer 2021

Answered your own question there, mate.

Graphically it looks stunning, and the concept of an open world samurai game set in feudal Japan is right up my alley.

Actually, yeah, thinking about it, feudal Japan is probably the most requested era, at least on forums, fans of AC want to see it set in. So people losing their gooseberry fool over this makes complete sense. Myself on the other hand, I just like the idea of a game from Sucker Punch that isn't Infamous  But even I can appreciate some of the cinematography/lighting the game has shown so far.

As an aside... samurai and a feudal Japan inspired setting are some of the most well represented - in number if not in accurate representation - in video games, so AC going down paths not tread makes complete sense to me; I hope we never see a AC set in that particular era of Japanese history.

Samurai Assassin's Creed is something people have wanted for ages. And now we're getting it without all the Ubisoft jank and the futuristic bollocks.

It's a real win win situation.

Plus it looks absolutely gorgeous, not necesssarily on a pure technical level but how they're bringing everything together-themes, design, music etc.

Such an odd time to release it, a month after Last of Us 2. You’d think they were getting it out quick because they’ve got another console on the way.

Inevitable rerelease for both on the PS5 within 18 months then.

These next few months are gonna end me, jeezus. Been avoiding everything about this game since that last trailer so I won't be watching this one. Very tempted to murder my wallet for that special edition tho >,>

I think Sony are crazy. TLOU2 which likely will receive glowing reviews that delivers sales over a longer period. So Ghosts coming out just a month later there will be some degree of market cannibalisation. Sony should have waited until July. Although I do suspect It’s plays into their strategy to move PS4 owners to PS5.

Considering this is this the last major year for PS4, line up wise it’s probably one of their best years for exclusives. You have this, TLoU 2 and Dreams within the first 6 months of the year.

So soon after Last of Us, I was honestly expecting a September release.
