It looks great but it's almost certainly going to be re-released on PS5 so I'll just wait for that.

Same!

Just watched this and Ghost of Tsushima having a presentation to itself worked. Normally when I watch gameplay during E3 conferences I want it to be quick and over so I can see the next reveal, but here not having that urgency allowed me to properly look at the game. I love the tempestuous weather and the skies with that intense sun breaking through the clouds, it can define the emotional experience whilst playing and I sense a revenge story in this.

HaruKazuhira wrote:I feel like it's doing enough to set itself apart from most other games tho. I like the emphasis of environmental details rather than being flooded with hud and menu's telling you where to go. Similar to BotW which I like.

I've yet to play Breath of the Wild but if this can subtly guide the player and maintain the sense of freedom without degenerating into a 'follow this dot' game then I'm for that.

The game may well be yet another Sony open world third person adventure but I haven't played a game in historic Japan since, perhaps, Tenchu on PS1 so I'm for this. The stealth looks fun and should satiate anyone with a yearning for AC Samurai. And whilst I only flirted with the idea of the Japanese language soundtrack with FFVII Remake for Ghost of Tsushima I think it could increase the sense of immersion.

Reading subtitles always makes me less immersed.

I think the most immersive game I've played is Dead Space, because it had no UI. All the information was built into the character.

Really wish more games would do that. Tomb Raider is particularly bad for having big stupid ugly icons everywhere.

Looks fantastic. Certainly be looking to pick this up if it's as good as it appears to be.

Totally agree with this. The more minimalist the UI the best in these types of games in my opinion.

Reading subtitles ruions the immersion, but I thiiiink I'm gonna want Japanese voices anyway.

Looks great, hope it's not too much of a Horizon clone though. I played that fairly recently.

This is gonna be my first SuckerPunch game so I have no idea what to expect. I have heard great things about Infamous tho. This game seems like a big step up from that so of course there are some reservations as to how much they can live up to its ambitions. But based on what we've seen it looks mighty promising.

Japanese voices all the way. Vastly prefer subtitles, and in general I'm never a fan of dubs. I know it technically won't be the same here, but to me it's a pseudo-uncanny feeling where the voices don't 'match' the look of the character. Though if SP are continuing with their binary morality system as seen across inFamous, I'll likely do two playthroughs and try both.

Quick deaths for all!

We have this phrase that we use to describe the combat in the game: Mud, Blood and Steel. We wanted it to feel really really grounded and lethally precise. If you've ever seen a samurai movie you know what it's like. These men cut each other down with a single stroke of their sword and to capture that samurai movie, fight is very different than a lot of other games because it means you can die very quickly and your enemies can too. And that took us a while to get right but we are very pleased with the results and we think it shows up well on the screen.

Skip to around 28m 30s. Annoyingly there are no follow up questions on combat difficulty.

I'm just hoping the story somewhat good.

The marketing has made the main character look very bland and generic so far.

The story looks to go down, at least partially, the route of honourable and dishonourable combat. And in one of the previous videos, the main character didn't have a triumphant look on his face when he took the Ghost mask off after winning a fight/killing someone. He almost looked tired/relieved. So yeah, hopefully these are pointers that the story and character will go in a unexpected (if not original) direction.

This makes me think of what stronger enemies will be like. If you can get taken down in a few hits then those longer fights will only get more intense.

I’ve been dreading - DREADING - reading the words ‘Bushido Blade’ in this thread...but it’s real, it’s where the game may be going, it’s where we are.

Bushido Blade is a fantastic game, but it works because of the peculiar creation that it is. I think a bigger and more open game like this definitely needs a different approach to combat than what BB gave us.

I'll be shocked if there isn't an easy/story mode.
