They found the issue and servers are up. There are a lot of graphics settings including the frame rate when you are tabbed out.

I've played this a lot yesterday and I am not feeling it to be honest. It is great, but I can't think what's wrong with it and it feels a little odd from Wildlands. I think I will wait for the price drop and when they have added the teammates.

I liked the look and feel of Wildlands but this latest Ghost Recon seems - to me - to be a lot different? I've only seen the initial reveal trailer but it looked to be far darker and more serious. I haven't looked out for more info since then so I could be totally wrong.

Okay, I was wrong; I've now seen some gameplay and it does look to be like Wildlands. The footage I'd seen before was CG movie stuff and the actual game looks to be more fun than that reveal suggested.

The impressions so far seem less than positive.

It seems that in addition to loads of different special editions and a battlepass every single element of the game is monetised - you can buy skins, weapons, attachments, weapon upgrades, skill points and boosters, under the label of 'time savers'. No loot boxes though so it's all fine.

If that's the case then strawberry float this game, no time for any of that bullshit. I'll just stick with Wildlands, it does what I need.

You would have thought after all the bad press, court appearances etc these publishers would have eased off but nope, they've double downed.

Until it effects their bottom line there's no doubt it'll only become worse.

There are no loot boxes, so everything is fine. They can still make games as boring and grindy as possible and sell you a way out of a system they created, as well as normalising spending as a behaviour, but they've removed the stink of gambling so can carry on regardless.

Out of curiosity what model would you be happy with going forward? Clearly what is currently used isn't appropriate anymore, especially for games with continued support. A lot has been made of loot boxes specifically because of the gambling aspect and the physiological hooks/damage that this brings so it would seem that this transparency is a step in the right direction, no?

I'm not saying I agree with this stuff, I really like the model Microsoft has gone with the subscription model but I do feel we are in the golden period as soon there will be multiple subscription services and it becomes more viable to just pick and choose your games.

The problem is that companies like Ubisoft are trying to have their cake and eat it - sell people a game that costs £50+ and then keep trying to sell them more and more using free to play monetisation, which is garbage but is tacitly more acceptable as there is no upfront buy-in. So they should make games like this free to play, or just chill out and stop going so mad on live service models and sell finished games with maybe an expansion or two.

The problem here is that they can't. Profits have spiralled so much that they have to make the numbers go up more than last year, nevermind that they already eclipse the GDP of small countries. The investors (who are the real customers here, not us) need to see the numbers getting bigger so games have become bigger and more gouging and money grabbing to meet that.

I get what you're saying but they're £50+ for what, maybe a month these days? You have the problem of the industry judging a game's success based on the first month's sales and fans who correlate the value of a game with age. I wonder how long it takes for the price of a cosmetic item to be more than the cost of purchasing the game.

It's a shame they couldn't find a better way as Ubisoft have proven to be very good at supporting their games.

Ubisoft have published some great games this generation, it's just a shame they have to tack on all this garbage with each release.

The reviews aren't that great for this.

4/10 from Gamespot.
1/5 from VG247.

Glad I didn't buy this on the day and it seems like it is better off to buy when it's cheap!

Jim Sterling hated it so much he had to get completely drunk to even attempt an approximation of some impressions

I'll still pick Breakpoint up sometime over the next 12 months. Wildlands had a rough start, but by the time I got around to picking it up it had become a thoroughly enjoyable game.
