Ghost stories and horror...are you a fan?

As Halloween approaches what better time to have a good old natter about what terrifies us? I love horror and ghost stories and have a book and movie collection fans of the macabre, vile and haunting would applaud, but what of yourselves? Does reading or watching something that scares the life out of you float your boat, or are you one more of the mindset of "Why go out of your way to give yourself nightmares!" while trembling behind your favourite pillow?

I just managed to get access to Shudder and I'm actually pretty impressed by their catalogue.

Some utter gooseberry fool though, it's amazing.

Watched the first Conjuring again last night, I think they are a great series of movies!

Anyone remember that Ghost Watch programme BBC did years ago which caused actual panic as people thought it was real!

Agreed, they are my favourite horror films by far, the first one in particular is a masterpiece.

Living in the UK in the last five years has been the best horror story.

The first horror novel really is the Bible. It's certainly the first locust novel

Ghost Watch was a marvellous hoax. The fallout once it aired was hilarious

Ghost Watch was incredible. I still remember watching it as a child and beng really freaked out by "Pipes".

Yep I have watched every single episode of it, all the films bearing that name , the old pilot for creepshow raw I'm a massive creepshow fan. I have a small framed Creepshow 2 picture on my wall with 3 signatures on it Greg Nicotero, Tom Savini and one of the actors

Creepshow is kind of loosly based on King and Romero's love of Tales from the Crypt so there similar but different.

If you like low budget 80's horror there's a full moon streaming service you can get as well featuring stuff like Puppet Master.

I Watched Ghost Watch when it aired my brother decided it would be something good for his younger brother to watch.

This seems the best place to ask actually, does anyone remember, back in the mid 90’s, I think it was channel 4 used to have an evening of horror every week, on a Friday or Saturday night? It had a host who was a devil/demon looking guy who would talk in between the films they showed? Pretty sure it was sponsored by Virgin as well

Anyone remember this? I have asked lots of people and no one remembers and I need to know I’m making it up

I remember that, but I think I remember it being on BBC1 or 2.
