Next on my Glastonbury playlist - Friendly Fires. Who are essentially Haircut 100 with less memorable tunes.

Not my sort of music at all (hell, I’ve never heard of Dave, or the ‘song’ “Thiago Silva”), but saw this trending on Twitter and watched it.

Fair play to the kid, so long as it wasn’t staged.

Thiago Silva has now followed them too as a result :slol:

This is the first time I've seen them with the new 3rd member.
Queuing up for their gig in Brixton right now; interested to see how the new line up comes across IRL

Is it just me, or do all these festivals look and sound really gooseberry fool and flat? The wife put some of the "pyramid stage" (?which doesn't actually look like a pyramid?) performances on last night and whilst there was a massive crowd the actual sound and music didn't impress at all. Hard to explain but there didn't seem to be any atmosphere, the girl on stage was jumping up and down doing her thing and there was the hint of some music playing along with it, but it was just...flat.

I think its more to do with how its mixed for TV for it coming across as flat sounding.

It looks quite pyramid shaped to me.

Well there you go, not once did I see a long-shot of it like that, just looked like a regular stage. Colour me corrected.

Almost definitely this, especially as it's a live broadcast, so there's no time for the levels to be optimised or remixed ahead of transmission.

Well this was a replay of the festival on iplayer, but yeah I guess they wouldn't have bothered to optimise the sound. Either way, not something I'll bother watching on TV again, better off just sticking a CD on.

Preezy i think the exact same thing - im quite fussy about sound quality etc and live music as broadcast often sounds 'weak' and insipid so it always annoys me so that i cant actually enjoy the act.

I thought even the "live" bits on TV weren't actually live but delayed by a reasonable chunk so they could filter out the swears and such?

live music broadcasts on TV over the years IMO have gone down hill how they mix them. Yes there are times the mix is perfect but its too often now performances are mixed badly and don't capture the sound and performance right at all

The Stormzy performance would suggest that isn’t true. ;)
