You can't be serious. There's a reason only one person reported Cal, Albear, and that's due to the fact that virtually nobody wants to have anything to do with this thread. Why? Cal. Cal is why this thread has but a couple of regulars and nothing else. Why? Almost everyone who has posted in here has been worn down by him; either he ignores you outright, or cherry picks individual sentences to quote (without explaining why he ignored the rest; did he concede or is he merely selectively blind?).

It's one thing to be a skeptic, sitting on the fence, it's another to be purposefully contrarian and to close yourself off to all other possibilities.

I hope he's joking. Albear and I are having a nice PM chat. :(
He'd be a complete coot to ban me.

I appreciate this thread is full of unpopular beliefs, but as far as I can see, neither Cal, nor this thread are breaking any rules. Cal can't be warned, and this thread can't be locked.

Annoying, maybe. Rule breaking, no.

I honestly believe that if there are only a few visitors to this thread, and if they are truly annoyed by it, then they should stop posting in it. As the thread will then die.

We can't however have people going around reporting every post they find annoying.

If another Mod disagrees then I'm happy to let them take the lead on this.

No, it's full of unpopular behaviour and repeated beliefs :)

And I didn't say it was repeated to garner a reaction - I said things were repeated ad nuseum in relation to this

Do not POST in a manner designed to wear down a USER, either aggressively ("SNIPING") or passive-aggressively ("STEALTH-TROLLING")."

Which is what others have also said throughout the thread. And that fact you've said "If you don't like it, leave it" sort of re-enforces this.

If another Mod disagrees then I'm happy to let them take the lead on this.

As an aside just before the shenanaggins Dolph Wiggler PM'ed me "You need to catch Mocky [about Cal], I don't think he really has any sway though"

OK, I accept that. I will talk to Cal and see if we can find a happy ending to all this.

I do think this thread could have some interesting debate to it.

Gonna have to disagree with you there, Cal's gonna continue to post his information in the thread regardless. There's been a fair few occasions when nobody has replied and the thread has dropped through the pages, only for it to be bumped again with another article. This wouldn't be a problem of course if Cal was willing to entertain other peoples opinions and actually enter a debate but it seems to me he's happy to just cherry-pick the odd quote sometimes, throw a few buzzwords together in disagreement so what you end up with is less a discussion on a message-board and more Cal's personal Climate Blog.

Edit: Dang too slow.

If you hate people repeating unpopular and downright wrong beliefs, you should stay out of the football thread Hexx. Some confused melters even post in there supporting Spurs!

Oh for the love of god please don't ban Cal.

The last thing his delusional ramblings need is to backed up with a martyrdom.

Christ, we'd never hear the end of it...

There is nothing wrong with that, if I was talking to an Australian I would say "We kicked you butts in the world cup". That isn't facepalm worthy.

Also Hexx, stop being stupid, you know what Cal is like. Don't go into this thread if you get too upset.

Surely the correct approach here would be for everyone else to stop posting in this thread leading to it actually infracting on the following rules:

iii.Do not POST twice consecutively in a THREAD; instead, use GRCADE'S POST editing feature to resubmit your last POST.
vi.Do not BUMP a THREAD repeatedly.

That way, he gets to have his little blog, people ignore it, it gets locked up as spam, everyones a winner.

Not everyone. But I suppose those who might genuinely wish to participate in a sceptical climate discussion are not considered worthy? Is that how this works? Are some people's views more equal than others?

Don't pretend there's anyone other than you spouting this gooseberry fool. Why should we specifically give you a soapbox to shout your evangelical bollocks from?

I said I'd never post here again but strawberry float it, the climate stuff I can accept but taking the piss out of the Met Office is not strawberry floating on.

Can you explain to us all, through any medium you want, could be from someone's blog for example (i.e. you can get someone else to explain it if you want), why the surface temperature of Venus is warmer than that of Mercury despite it being much further away from the Sun?

Could it not be possible that the planet itself generates more heat from underground?
