PostGODS Remastered - all formats, including Spectrum. From 4th Dec

I've long hoped for GODS to get some sort of re-release, but I wasn't really expecting it to ever happen. Then, this afternoon, browsing the Xbox store - GODS Remastered, and it's out next week!

I'm not entirely sure about the new visuals, but I'd be happy playing it again in its pixelly form.

Experience the 2D-action classic "Gods" by the legendary Bitmap Brothers in a new look! Exciting levels full of monsters and puzzles await you, which you can play either in the original pixel graphics or in a modern 3D mode with an extensive new soundtrack.

Join the nameless warrior on a dangerous journey through four worlds to defeat the Great Guardians who have stolen the homes of the gods. As a reward you will receive immortality and a place in the eternal hall of fame...

I was shocked for a moment then I started to have that sneaking feeling that I've seen this news before and just forgot about it.

Either way it's good news. Never really played it before (Had a brief shot of the PC version) but remember the Amiga version and the SNES/MD ports so I might pick this up.

Hopefully see some more Bitmap Brothers remasters. Chaos Engine would be sweet.

It sounds like there was some announcement in September, but it must have got buried by other news. Probably Fortnite and RDR2 related.

Yeah, I was just thinking about The Chaos Engine the other day!

Had this on my Steam wishlist for a couple of months, looking forwards to buying it immediately at then playing it for half an hour at some point in 2021.

Oh nice! Always been curious about this along with a good few other Bitmap Brothers games, glad to see oldies like this made readily available with improvements in frame rate + widescreen etc

Unfortunately I'm not keen on the new visuals at all, so I'm thankful for the option to swap to the original aesthetic

Saw this a week ago and nearly made a topic about it then, but assumed there would be no interest! Loved this game back in the day, it's probably dated terribly though.

Thank the GODS you can play it in original style because those new graphics are bland.

This game is from the era where I rarely saw how any of my favourite games ended due to how utterly nails they were, and how utterly awful I was at playing them. Good times

Well, at least games have gotten easier.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I ever finished it (Megadrive version for me). I really hope they haven't toned down the difficulty. I'm up to the the challenge now.

I was only recently thinking about Gods and it's music and perhaps replaying it with an emulator. I played this on Amiga and actually completed it! Great gameplay and great music. This version... the hero looks squat and fat. And the remix synth music in the trailer sounds a bit gimped. I don't mind giving it a go but at £16+ I think I can wait. It's also on Steam and on the Facebook page they say it's coming to PS4 and Switch.

I think I liked this game at the time, but I can't believe it will have aged well at all.

I dunno, as long as it plays like the original did (both in terms of gameplay and general quality), then maybe the hard as nails gameplay will mean it's as much of a game of this era as it was on its original release, or something.

I imagine people who didn’t play the original, and might be expecting a regular platfomer, will find the pace of the character rather slow. I guess it’s a kind of forerunner to the Souls series.

I was playing the original on my Pi last night and it's definitely a game of it's time. Slow paced and hard from the word go. Controls a bit stiffly as well.

Can't say I prefer the new look for the remaster though. Bitmap Brothers always had phenomenal looking pixel art.
