They haven't discontinued Stadia to be fair......yet.

I think that's a good shout, Laga. With things like RE Village launching in April, the Stadia offer is looking pretty attractive when you can't easily buy a PS5 or Xbox X... and, if you could, they're £450.

In the near future Xcloud will most likely be on iOS and web browsers, one of those is less likely to shut off it's gaming cloud services going forward.... :shifty:

Yeah, I still think that streaming is the future of gaming - it's just a thing about how long it'll take to get there. With the current tech manufacturing issues, it feels like a real window of opportunity for all game streaming companies.

Right when I was questioning why I'm still subscribed to Stadia Pro (It's because I haven't finished Into the Breach or Savage Planet Yet) they just dropped Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition on it!

Fantastic news as I was holding off playing that. Think I'll do that on stream!

Yep, I very nearly resubscribed to Pro just to claim Resi 7.

I do already have it on PS4, though, so decided not to. It was more the convenience of playing it on my phone etc that tempted me.

What I might do, is wait till there are enough games on sale on Pro discount, so that it pays for itself for a month, then switch it back on every now and again to swoop in with a few purchases.

Anyhow, hope you have a great time with Resi, aayl1. It's a proper return to form for the series, imo.

Sorry to resurrect this bad boy of a thread, but...

Stadia have finally added a search bar, so you can search the store and sort your games library to find the things you want.

It's genuinely a huge improvement.

I mean, the interface could still be much better, but I'm resubscribing.

Does the Epic Game Store have a shopping cart yet? Because if not then I'm actually impressed that Stadia made such a big improvement before EGS.

They need to hurry up and get Football Manager on the platform, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Nope, it's such a massive oversight really.

People buy things from EGS? Doesn't everyone just login each week to claim the free game and leave it at that?

Stadia product head John Justice leaves Google

VP and head of product at Stadia John Justice has left Google. The exec was responsible for the consumer experience at Stadia and had previously spoken about his team's tendency to overpromise on new features. Back in 2019, Google's streaming service infamously launched without a number of hyped social features including State Share and Crowd Play. More recently, Stadia abruptly debuted a Search bar for the web, one of its most requested features. Though Justice has yet to update his LinkedIn page, Google confirmed his departure

I didn't stick with Fallen Order all that long, having got it on Gamepass. But I'm impatient with most stuff so that doesn't mean much, and I'd have bought it myself at some point otherwise too so glad to have been able to try it.

I've a friend who is a much bigger Star Wars fan, and he really enjoyed it, so hopefully you click with it.

Even if not, glad for you to be able to give it a go, enjoy! Got to say, what with this and Resi 7 Gold edition, plus finally movement on store searching as if they're finally listening, it's been a decent couple of months for Stadia.

Snagged Steamworld Heist before it leaves, plus some JRPG I'll never play, Trine 4, Enter the Gungeon and bought a v discounted Far Cry New Dawn with the Pro discount.

Yeah I've been playing a lot of resi 7 and I to the Breach these past couple of weeks (and still have savage planet on the back burner) so I've felt "okay" about having Stadia. I don't have hardware to twitch stream anything modern (no capture card, laptop can't run modern games) so stadia has been a nice way for me to twitch stream more demanding games.

Happy that my Internet can handle streaming in stadia then out to twitch.

So, from tomorrow, the Stadia app is available on the Chromecast with Google TV, if you have one of those TV sticks.

It's also coming out on a few other Android devices and Smart TVs.

I'm pretty sure you can use any controller with Bluetooth (e.g. Xbox or I think PS and Switch Pro) to use it.

There are a couple of free games on there, even without a subscription if anyone has that and fancies giving it a go.

I think you can also still get a free months of Pro, which gives you lots more free games and 4k visuals. Just cancel it before the £8.99 renewal comes in - unlike a lot of subs, it's really easy to cancel, then switch it on and off again as you fancy.

The only thing I'd say is that I've no idea how well it plays without the Stadia controller, which I think connects to the Stadia servers directly through WiFi, and (for me anyway) eliminates the lag you sometimes get with streamed games. So it may not be the best experience played without it. But hey, it's free.

I haven't touched Stadia since I got bored of Cyberpunk, shame really but until they have games on it that I actually want to play (Football Manager and Cities: Skylines) it's just a controller in the drawer.
