Yeah, I can get behind Orange's thinking, too. At the moment I feel that I'm in with PlayStation, but I want Xbox to do well and it wouldn't take much for me to jump back to them. I'd like Stadia to push those two into being better.

Of course, I still root for Nintendo, as well, but who knows what they're gonna do. Their next console will probably use cassettes distributed via Amazon droids. Plot twist: C15 cassettes.

This, I always want them to continue improving but I'm just used to the Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft status quo in terms of brands and would be happy to see them continue.

I was distrought when Sega exited the business and wouldn't want to see it happen to any of the above.

For sure Xbox Games Pass is a more mature service and I'm not claiming it is superior! But what Stadia represents is getting the full gaming experience with very little expense. You need a controller and then you can play on your computer. And some TVs have the standard Chromecast built in so future TVs may have Chromecast Ultra. Baldur's Gate III will, possibly, launch on PC first, if that's the case a service like this gives gamers access to a £1,500 gaming system. Stadia won't have the draw of all those great Xbox exclusives like Crackdown 3 and that other one with the zombies, but casual gamers will be happy to play Tomb Raider. And if Google can bring FIFA or Madden that would be major. They are also looking to evolve spectatorship. Realistically, at this stage Microsoft is in a stronger position because their platform is gamer specific but what Google may be able to offer is full games with the accessibility of YouTube.

Pre ordered. Turns out payment isn't taken until despatch time so I can always cancel nearer the time.

I like the idea of being able to take the controller and dongle anywhere (?) and, subject to a decent enough wifi connection, playing their games anywhere I happen to be. Wonder if tethering to a 4G phone would be an option?

Stadia controller is €60 I believe.

I presume you trolling mentioning Crackdown 3 and State of Decay 2 (I like both) but Halo and Gears are still huge franchises and coupled with the new studio's, it's those exclusives that will push Xcloud over Stadia imo.

I know I'm late here but I only just found out Baldur's Gate 3 will be on Stadia.

I don't have a PC so I may indeed get Stadia just for this so I hope my connection can handle it.

By the time BG3 is a game that exists to play, your connection should be more than able to handle streaming a videogame.

Anyway, I have, of course, preordered the thing. Being able to just pick up my Destiny character and play wherever is a big draw, and Ubisoft's pass carrying across is smart. Even if it's a spectacular flop, it'll have been worth it just to see what could have been.

Do you also not bother with Netflix or Spotify or anything like that?

I'm grabbing this myself to have a look, I have Gamepass etc. I don't really view it as much different to buying digital games, there's always the chance you can lose the ability to get the stuff you have bought. Shame people want a digital future.

I do with Netflix, so I guess that makes me a hypocrite. But I do feel differently about games, I would rather buy physical and have the option of building my collection or selling it on. This may come as a massive shock, but I still by CDs for music, rip them to MP3s and stick them on my phone. A pain in the arse sure, but I own the media. I think it's time that digital media ownership is more heavily scrutinised by government. One should have the right to sell the files that they legally obtain, if this was the case I would feel more comfortable with a digital future. That still doesn't help much with a subscription service though.

Subscriptions suit me perfectly fine. With Origin Premiere I get to play every game EA put out, all DLC and their entire back catalogue for the same money that I would be spending on FIFA and Madden alone every year, and Ubisoft's service will offer the exact same thing so I'll be on that for sure. Gamepass gives me access to every Microsoft game going forward for about the price of one game a year.

But I don't own them! Like I give a strawberry float. I care about playing them, and I have far, far too much to keep me occupied that I will not care one bit if some game disappears in a couple of years.

You are a dream for these companies. Game pass is the only good value service at the moment, but I am a little suspicious that they might be employing 'dealer tactics' ergo; they get you hooked then jack up the price...

I can't see the Game Pass subscription price going higher than the cost of buying it all individually though.

For me, there's so much entertainment out there appealing to me now across games, movies, TV shows that I feel no desire to have a massive physical collection of it all any more, I can't afford that and there's always something new to move on to. Subscription services give me access to more entertainment for a lot less money and it's working out well for me.

I'm just going to get Stadia as it'll be the cheapest way for me to play Baldur's Gate 3.
It won't be a long term subscription and I may still buy a PC.

Stadia isn’t running a gamepass service, you have to pay full price for each new game.

Stadia Pro gets you up to 4K resolution and access to a growing library of games (including Destiny 2). Stadia Base gets you up to 1080p resolution, but there's no access to the library of games.

With both options, however, you have to buy new games outright. In fact, that's how you get access to most games available on Stadia. If you have a Pro subscription, you have to pay for the game on top. If you have the free version, you're just paying for the game.

It had been unclear whether these games would cost full-price on Stadia, given you're simply streaming them as opposed to buying a disc or downloading the game onto a hard-drive. But in a roundtable interview with UK games press this morning, attended by Eurogamer, Stadia chief Phil Harrison indicated Stadia games will cost the same as they do on other platforms such as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One - that is, they won't be cheaper.

Xbox (And I presume Sony) will be adding exclusives day one into their cloud services...

I thought as much. That's really strawberry floating stupid.
