Not the whole game though, its just Year 1 content, Gambit and the locations and Strikes for later. Doesn't include the current or new Raids or the story from Forsaken or Shadowkeep.

The Stadia version is everything, I think

This is one of my main concerns about digital gaming; streaming or downloading. I guess I wouldn't really expect any company to say "Yeah, we guarantee to run the service forever!" but it still feels like a a risk. Digital console "AAA" games are circa £60 each at launch and it doesn't feel good to think that in, say, ten years time the platform owner may say "Thanks but we're shutting down that particular system now". And your fifty-odd expensive games have gone.

This is a fantastic non-answer. "Yeah! Guys, listen! We love games! Yeah! We're gonna make Stadia a success! Cool infrastructure. Remember Gmail?"

"Yours to play" is a fantasticly vague statement.

The absolute stones on that.

They are somehow managing to make this less and less appealing with every new announcement.
I was at first a pretty solid Yes to this if only to play Baldur's Gate 3 but now I'm at most going to wait for the free version and pick up the game or more likely will get it on any console platform they port it to.
I'd rather buy a Switch just for that single game and have all the other games as a nice bonus than go with Stadia.

Don’t worry you can download your save data and meta so all good......

If it was Microsoft I would trust it to stay up, but google have too much history for me to go within a mile of this!

"In the cloud" just means 'on someone else's computer' "

I'd just assumed the controller was the only necessary bit, but from reading this thread, that seems wrong now.

It's probably not all that confusing, but they haven't really got this whole thing across very clearly.

The response re switching off the servers was pretty patronising as well. "Remember when you bought actual records and CD's, eh grandad?". Quite apart from it being worthless if they shut the servers off in future (and it's a subscription service, so nothing to stop that), one trouble with this comparison is that official film and music streaming services don't have a full catalogue of stuff anyway, leading to you paying more for several services and some stuff getting lost to posterity with no way to access it.

I thought this might be an impulse buy, but it's now a probably not / wait and see at best.

If Google are struggling to interest people on here then I think this may be in more trouble than they think.
It has the potential to be one of the flops of the year even if they put in a quite epic amount of money into advertising.

Part of me is still tempted to give this a go, but it does feel like they are struggling to build the momentum needed to get things off the ground.

If the tech works really well and they clarify/improve the value of the paid for subscription I can see it doing well, but those are big ifs at the moment....

I've pre-ordered, but am really tempted to cancel. I'm skint for 1 and I assume I haven't yet been charged so would rather keep the money for something else. Like food or rent.

I think the mass market will view Stadia as a chance to play the latest games without buying a console; they perhaps won't be too fussed about "ownership" or a few dropped frames.

To me, there are some appealing aspects but I wouldn't jump aboard until it has been running for a year or two and any "issues" have been called out.

My only worry about cloud gaming is....what happens when the cloud rains?

It’s when it isn’t raining that you have to worry about.

It needs to rain. The rain falls from the cloud creating your stream.

Yeh lighting is used to power the internet, the light is absorbed and used in fibre optic connections, and the electricity of the lightning is used for traditional copper connections.

Thunder is just a byproduct.

The GPUs in the cloud are water-cooled so you may experience a higher frame-rate at such time.
