Goose vs Raccoon! (Untitled Goose Game vs Donut County)

Untitled Goose Game and Donut County are two very similar games. Both are small indie puzzlers, both sport a minimalist, colourful cartoon-like art style, and both put you in the shoes (feet?) of a mischievous animal out to cause chaos in their community. If you've only played and liked one of the games, the other comes as an easy recommendation - so get on it! In that case this thread has already served its purpose well enough.

For those of you still here, a brief reminder of the two games:

Untitled Goose Game is the more recent of the two games and has you play out a day in the life of a troublesome and frankly often vindictive goose. As you waddle about the sleepy English village that serves as the game's setting you cause all sorts of problems for its residents, from stealing their lunch to literally driving children to tears, prompting them to get quite understandably upset with your actions. You are a force of nature, a whirlwind of wayward behaviour, unleashed upon a community woefully unprepared for your goosey shenanigans - and it's wonderful.

Donut County is a little less grounded (pun very much intended), a little more fantastical in its anthropomorphic small town setting, and a little more abstract in its puzzles and solutions. You don't play directly as the raccoon protagonist, but as a literal hole-in-the-ground controlled through an app on said raccoon's smartphone. What Donut County does share with Untitled Goose Game is its penchant for wanton destruction. Each stage plays out as an anti-katamari, seeing you hoover up progressively larger pieces of the world in your never ending quest for humorous hijinks - and in doing so ruining the day for plenty of Donut County's residents, human and animal alike.

So here is the question - who would win in a fight, Goose or Raccoon? And while we're at it, why not discuss the similarities between the games and your own personal preference. Just for fun, like.

My own money is on the raccoon. Sure that goose is frightening, but it wouldn't take long for the hole to consume UGG's entire village!

I have not played Donut County. I shall play it and give my verdict, which will be 100% more valid than any other.

An interesting point. I think it only fair to say that both combatants know they must do battle, but the time and place is undecided. The raccoon will have his guard up, perhaps, but there will still be opportunities one would imagine for goose infiltration.

I shall enjoy watching the Goose look down upon the raccoon carcass lying broken in the Pit of Bells :datass:

Because, from my personal gaming perspective, I'm not interested in the goose game but I'm keen to try the raccoon game. Dunno why, but there we go!

The goose game is strawberry floating amazing though.

Maybe it's the katamari connection that's more appealing? Donut County is published by Annapurna Interactive, who are also now the publishers of Wattam :toot:

I mean the racoon can open up a hole under the goose - for that reason he wins.

It's the whole Kevin McCallister vs Solid Snake argument again.

The outcome depends on how much prep time the racoon gets before the goose begins his infiltration mission.

Goose is amateur hour, he completely lacks raccoon efficiency in removing his enemies
