Batman is dead. It is now up to the Batman Family – Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin – to protect Gotham City, bring hope to its citizens, discipline to its cops, and fear to its criminals. You must evolve into the new Dark Knight and save Gotham from chaos.

Seems like a single player (or 2 player co-op) campaign but also seems ripe for GaaS endgame?

Was definitely disappointed with this but then I've just seen the Rocksteady Suicide Squad trailer and suddenly this doesn't look as bad...

Looks much the same as the Arkham series. Seems a weird plot choice, I don't really know anyone who would ever want a game where you play as the sidekicks.

I felt once the Arkham games tried to go open world, it lost the focus of having a really great environment that complimented the plot.

So if this and Suicide Squad set in the Arkhamverse then? Be cool if they did crossover events between the games

It’s not linked to the Arkham series.

They just copied the Arkham features, just like they did for Batman: Arkham Origins.

Mildly excited for it. It does look a lot better than the Avengers game. Not sure about Robin’s look though.

I for one think this looked strawberry floating magnificent, real next-gen quality.

But how is this not part of the Arkhamverse? The trailer clearly sets itself up based on the Knightfall protocol from the previous game.

Also, Batman blatantly isn't going to be really dead

Graphically it looks bang average and Robin appears to be dressed as a woman, but it’s nice to see the series come back. Bold move giving ol Bats the heave ho, I dig it.

Plus there’s the case of Batgirl pouncing about.

It’s impossible if this was an sequel to Arkham seeing that Barbara Gordon spend all of the series in a wheelchair.

Would be a bit better if they went with the Teen Titans team i.e Robin, Cyborg, Raven and Starfire.

I wish more games stuck to a more linear world - it can get overwhelming and a lot of time just feels empty. I still think GTA is the standard for any open world & don’t really feel outside of a select few any can get anywhere close to it

This is blatantly a live service game and that worries me.

In 2018, the president of WB Interactive basically said all their games would be GaaS now:

But more than ever, the tech stack, whether it’s for publishing or BI or marketing, that you build and serve these games on—as we increasingly move everything to games as a service, the kind of enabling technology you need to keep them hyper-social, to keep them serving well, to keep them engaged, to take the innovations of game makers and deliver them, like the Nemesis system—you’ll see a lot of our investment not just in classic development, designers and engineers and artists, but increasingly in the teams that end up serving live games.

Rather disappointed with this tbh, as I'd rather they'd just done another Arkham game, as I really do think Arkham Oranges had the best story of the all the Arkham games. It's been five years since Knight and I've been craving some more Arkham action for a while. This just reeks as a Live Service game and frankly I'm not excited.

I disagree, Batman's days a fruit picker was a really odd choice story wise.

As time progresses I'm more and more convinced that "live service" games are a strawberry floating cancer. As much as I know Jim Sterling winds a lot of people up he's absolutely spot on. These companies don't want lots of money, they want ALL the money and live services are the way to do that.
