Asylum is superb.
I did start it once but only played the opening ten mins! In recent times I saw Cheeky Devlin stream some Batman action and it was really neat. I have Asylum on my 360 but I think I'll go with the PS4 port that I picked up cheaply a few months ago.
Basically do it. It’s Batman meets Castlevania/Metroid. And the story is excellent. Plus a much complex fighting system than Spider-Man but you’ll get hang of it.
They also did a side scrolling Metroidvania game on the Vita that was set between Origins and Asylum but I forget the name. It was alright. I'm assuming that was developed by a different company as it felt a little unpolished.

Arkham Origins Blackgate.

Thanks, Wedgie! I don't think I'll be starting it for a little while - too many games in the play stack right now! - but after all these positive vibes it's definitely one (and a series) I want to try.

Normally I'd be quite happy about this, but my wife loved the Arkham games and I was hoping to be able to do cross-gen co-op with her on the One X and me on my Series X.
Can still do it if it's cross-platform and she uses the PS5, but I'm not holding my breath for that.
Bloody hell that looks rough. The gameplay looks like a poorer version of the old Arkham games. The added on abilities to existing heroes is pointless, just use a different character.
The suit modding and legendary gear... Yuck. Reminds me of the last injustice game.
It just seems like a massive misfire, everyone's favourite batman character is batman, so kill him off and play as robin. But they don't have enough confidence in robin so give him loads of random gadets when they could just have him become batman to keep the legend alive.
If they wanted to mix things up with the gameplay then make it a Justice League game instead. Keep batman, add cyborg and others with different abilities.
Hopefully there it looks a lot better as they reveal more. But its 65 for the base game and 80 for the deluxe (with little of worth added).
Something that really bugs me in games is that auto-locking to punch someone ten feet away in one leap then back again, which was basically the whole Nightwing bit. Either have a smaller space to fight or more enemies to actually bounce between. It's always been a thing in these sort of games but still, always looks dumb.
The workbench and all those meaningless materials was also a bit gross.
But who knows, I didn't think much of any of the GotG trailers or demos last year but ended up liking that a lot. This popping up on GamePass in six months would be much appreciated ty.

They are already making a Justice League game though…
