What a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What about buying your first OLED telly?

I'm yet to experience the awe and majesty of an OLED TV.
The last set I bought was a Samsung LCD that had fantastic reviews for gaming as it apparently has a super fast response time.
The set is 3 years old now and FH5 looks amazing and with the xbox wireless headset and Atmos, I'm more than happy at the moment.

You were in awe of the tech's potential back in 2005-ish when it was still nowhere near ready. Thought for sure you'd be an early adopter.

I'm also a cheap bastard :shifty: .
I don't buy expensive things. The most expensive thing I've ever bought was actually one of those old huge rear-projection TVs about 20 years ago which was £1.5k.
The telly I'm using was £700 and I'm happy with it.

While it's not all been on GRCade as i only joined in 2018, i've seen and done a lot during my many years on various forums (Nintendo UK/PGF/Global Nintendo/ONM/SONM, at one time i even had my own little board, it was mainly for me to post random spam, gifs, and stuff as we only had a small number of members, but it was a laugh while it lasted). From moving house in 2005 and travelling abroad for the first time solo in 2009, to much more serious things such as losing Dad in 2016/17, and several major collapses in my mental health (2004/08/14/19/20).

Forums in all their forms, have been a bigger part of my life than i ever imagined, and when i first started using them, i never thought i'd still spend some of my spare time posting gifs and cracking iffy jokes on these things.

Since being at GR...

Got married
Had two beautiful children
Had several jobs before ending up in a more permanent position with the NHS
Became separated, but maintained a good relationship with the other half
Reduced my social circle to just a handful of trustworthy friends
Quit smoking
Quit drinking, (because it clearly wasn't doing me any good mentally)
Cleared all my personal debt
Picked up a guitar again
Got back into a few older hobbies which have kept me on the straight and narrow (Mainly D&D, board games and miniature painting)

I just live from one day to the next now, pouring most of my energies into time with my kids and my hobbies

I started posting on 'here' when I was 14 so yes, similar to Skarjo in that apart from my first wank, GRcade has seen it all!

I think I finished my degree during my time on GR? I joined in 2018

If we go all the way back to ONM, then that's more significant because I joined that place in like early 2012 when I was like, 12. This is like nearly a decade now I guess and almost half my life. In that time up until now I finished secondary school, (barely) passed my A levels, first girlfriend, depression, no more depression, started my degree, smoking habit, depression, became a stoner, no depression then depression again, started my masters, started lifting consistently, decided to call myself a communist

And the usual stuff right? Made friends, lost relatives and still havent learned how to drive lol

Finished college
Started learning Japanese
Grandad passed away
Mum got super ill, became a carer for her
Dad lost his position in the UK and had to move to Israel to continue working
Parents divorced
Dad remarried, had my little sister
Moved back to the UK, sold our house
We all moved to Hertfordshire, I moved in with my Dad and my Mum into assisted living
Got my first (and still current job)
Nan passed away
Finished my OU degree
Moved into my first rented place
Mum passed away
Moved into my current place (part owned)

That's basically it for me, a lot of stuff has happened and I've been on GR for all of that which is somewhat crazy to think about.

No marriage.
No child.
Obviously no divorce.
No pets.
As if I'll ever drive!
Still a virgin.

I'm pretty much a side character that gets nothing interesting to do. The only momentous thing that's happened for me is the realisation I was on the wrong career track too late into uni life. Still having fun day to day, though. That's what counts the most.

2009 - Finished Scool
2009 - Went to Uni first time
2009 - Passed driving test.
2010 - Went to uni second time
2013 - Finished Uni with a 2:1
2013-14 - Unemployed Bum living with mum.
2014 - Got Graduate job.
2021 - Been here ever since. Been overseas a lot during that time.

Personally I've developed a lot in my own way too. Been broken hearted over unrequited feelings fairly often, but working on things relationships wise. Some semi-success stories in comparison to my own experience and noone elses.
Become a happier, more confident and more comfortable person in my own skin.

Made some very good friends, tossed aside some very bad ones. The 7 years that I pretty much skipped have been the best of my life. Albeit with ups and downs.
