While Stewart is better than the others, he’s still a Tory to his core. He’s voted for austerity and he’s stated he wants to leave the EU and stop freedom of movement.

He might be more palatable than the others but he’s pitching unicorns and hiding behind an affable personality his support for policies that make people’s lives miserable.

I won a colouring in competition as a kid, it doesn’t mean I am now Picasso.

So if it gets down to Hunt vs Boris, is it really worth waiting until the end of July? Hunt might as well drop out at that point as he won't stand a chance with the membership.

Stewart might at least make a fight of it if he gets that far.

The latest poll of Tory party members suggest 63% of them would be happy to break up the UK to get Brexit and 54% would be happy for their own party to be destroyed.

They are not making Stewart leader.

The only way Johnson loses is if the Mail do the mother of all hatchet jobs on him when the poll goes out to the members.

If he gets to the final two Stewart will have four weeks to eviscerate Boris Johnson. It's still unlikely he'll prevent Boris from becoming PM but he's the only one with even the slightest chance of causing some disruption.

Tory members are not going to vote for somebody like Stewart.

They are literally willing to destroy their own party and country to get hard Brexit, they are not going to want Stewart with his “let’s try May’s deal again!” idea.

You're probably right, but at least he can do some damage to Boris' image so the wider public will be less warm to Boris in the inevitable upcoming general election.

My fear was Raab would somehow make the final 2 and Tory members might have gone for that dead eyed psychopath.
