On the one hand, I get this argument. On the other hand, both existed before I was born, so they may as well have been released together

I went Tetris.

I get the original composition argument but at the same time, it's iconic because of Tetris.

With that in mind I honestly can't see how anyone can vote for anything other than Tetris. It's the only piece of music in this competition that was remixed and released as a single for god sake.

This was my conclusion. And SMB has to win overall.

Probably but it's route to the final is going to lay waste to some absolute classics. At the moment it's going to have to beat Sonic and then probably Tetris just to reach the semi. Difficult draw for the Brooklyn plumber.

I would argue that Green Hill Zone, while a classic in the video game scene, is not really identifiable to normal well adjusted people outside the likes of these forums. But yeah, Tetris and SMB really are two that transcend the medium (and both had awesome late 80's techno mixes).

Put it this way, if you were stuck in a cell for a day listening to each one, I guarantee that Tetris would drive you batshit crazy before Resi made a dent!

Not sure either are Iconic but Metroid Prime: Phendrana Drifts is better by far! (not that I don't like a bit of Fable's music)

Again I prefer Fable 2's music but it's less well known.

Couldn't we have just called it "Best Music"? Neither of these songs are even close to being iconic and it's bugging the hell out of me.

But that would be completely different

Based on peoples' reasoning for their votes, it would've been accurate. :capnscotty:

Big win for a Gamecube classic. On to the next round and it's a battle of the N64. What idiot wrote this nonsense. :shifty:

Rocket Knight deserves to win but it won't.

No it wasn't.

Its sequel Sparkster was on the SNES, unsure if it ever appeared on the Megadrive.

Edit: The Megadrive had a direct sequel, albeit an entirely different game to the SNES one, which was more a spin-off.
