He's Irish which is always popular in the USA, his fighting style is based on striking rather than wrestling and he usually finishes a fight before the end of the 2nd round and apart from Diaz and Khabib, no one in the UFC has provided a serious challenge to him. He's also very quick witted and great at trash talking and some of the trash talk prior t to Diaz fight was often very accurate in predicting the fight outcome. Being polite and well mannered doesn't really help to hype up a fight.

And I think many people like his gooseberry fool stirring too. What you think makes him a prick is what the majority of the UFC audience love about him.

No idea. Seems to be massively popular with the simple laaad types because of the tedious "banter" plus he's Irish so it's like St Patty's Day-lite whenever he's got a fight.

The only thing that gets me is the amount of comments on Facebook I'm seeing calling him a coward for tapping out.

McGregor's many things but if Khabib even looked me at across the octagon I'd be falling to my knees and praying. Bunch of knobends posting as though they'd be down with getting their jaw broken after 18 minutes of brutality.

What martial arts do you do? Can't say it looks the most comfortable.

Hadn't seen that full video before. Essentially a small group of people who can actually fight, kicking the gooseberry fool out of a bunch of loud mouth drunks...

It's why I hate going out into town any night a big fight is on. All of a sudden half the city's a martial arts/boxing expert.

Similar to after the Mayweather fight, it is quite amazing to see mental gymnastics McGregor's fans perform to defend their guy. With Mayweather there were these baffling claims of how he 'held his own' (what fight did they watch?) and this time around it's the claims that he is somehow humble in defeat and a 'true champion'. I mean I'm glad that people are pissing on Khabib as his behaviour outside of the octagon deserves all the scorn, but did they not see McGregor throwing fists at people as well? I shouldn't try and think this through, it's just a blind following for this chump, but discouraging to realise that it simply does not matter how much he gets embarrassed in either the ring or octagon, McGregor's fans will still make excuses.

One of my local pubs was a nightmare a few weeks ago when the Joshua fight was on, never seen bit so busy on a Saturday night before. One one of my mates I was with who I know has zero interest in boxing basically started doing a tale of the tape based on nothing other than the two boxer's photos on the poster we were standing next to.

Kickboxing, but I've got two brothers who have been practising jiu jitsu for years and I have foolishly rolled with them enough to know how much that hold strawberry floating hurts.

That is crazy surely, he's barely going to have recovered from last weekend's fight.

He said himself right after the fight that he didn't want a title fight and his cardio is gooseberry fool

Three and a half weeks to train for a title fight vs Cormier :dread:

He went from something like 400k followers to 1.2 million on Instagram after the weekend (Khabib went from 5 million to 11 million).

Probably best to capitalise on the red panty money since DC doesn't plan to fight beyond his 40th birthday in half a year or so.

Although I assumed that fighters are automatically medically suspended for at least 6 weeks after a fight unless it's an Aldo Mcgregor 13 second long fight.

Same could be said of every big sporting event unfortunately.

For example, the World Cup. All of a sudden, everyone is an expert :fp:

Do you often contemplate the complexity of life?
