Got some wet races done on ACC last night….. damp to light rain conditions is a lot of fun, the preset ‘storm’ conditions, not so much  Properly cooked my tyres in a dry race I had as well, tried to get on the power too quick and lost the rear, made an abysmal effort to get back on the track, the tyres only had a bit of red on them heat wise, but they never gripped the same after that

Hit Gold driver ranking though :datass: Next up is Platinum, but safety rating takes so long to go up, think that'll be the one to get to 99 though, still not a huge fan of the metrics it tracks, SR is a key one of course.

Went into Currys to look at tellies before getting distracted by a Logitech/Playseat Evolution display they had. Spent hours on it.

Now I want a Playseat again :'(

(Oh, and played loads of online Counterstrike in their gaming PC area! How long has that been a thing?!)

You can have my (slightly broken) playseat challenge (the folding one) for free if you pay postage. It's sitting in the loft doing nothing. I've also got a Logitech g923 (ps4/5/pc) sat doing nothing that I'll see for dirt cheap if you'd like that too.

Yes the heaviest setting in any game is never much fun, it's no wonder they stop races in real life at that point. The middle ground is the most fun, lots of different lines to take and crazy overtakes you can make (or cock up).

Bought another car and track for iracing so I can carry on in the b licence and earn a promotion. Did a time trial at suzuka thinking I was pretty quick with room for improvement as I've not driven the car before, then someone shows up and goes 4 seconds faster than me :dread:

It must be borderline impossible racing in those conditions, still think F1 wait till it’s too dry though

Not that I’ll probably be getting it, but F1 Manager 24 is £30 this year, loads cheaper than the last couple of years. Was kind of hoping they’d have done a Switch version by now.

Now i've bought Sebring :shifty:

I don't think ive ever actually driven it properly in a racing game so it took maybe 5 laps to get used to it, and a further 5 to get some good speed going, but god it's got a great flow to it :datass:

Speaking of Sebring, we went to the area for a night a few years back on a Florida trip, and I went to the track to have a look. Have a look being the word there, because there was gift shop access (where I bought the itchiest, most starchy feeling t-shirt ever made), and we were able to drive down the pedestrian access along the main straight. There was a load of MX5s (I think) going around on a track day. We also had an utterly dog gooseberry fool Jeep we got saddled with at the rental place, so amongst the crap photos, I took a sarcastic action shot :datass:

Stunning photos i'm sure you'll agree.

Annoyingly, there was a drag racing event there the day before that we'd missed.

Just realised i've been time trialing on a dry track with wet tyres fitted for the past week :fp: :fp: :fp:

I thought it looked too dry for the pit guy to say i'm on wets. Assumed it was a forced choice. FFS

Nords out on ACC PC today, will be looking forward to seeing how it looks later on.

Seems like AC 2 is going to be called Assetto Corsa EVO judging by a QR code trackside on the new DLC.

Edit, of course the name in the QR code could well be an April fools with it releasing on 01/04/24

I did a little test this afternoon to see what making one of those point of view videos would be like. I turned all the lights off and blocked out as much ambient light as i could. Turns out trying to race properly with a gopro strapped to your face blocking a lot of your vision is harder than the video makes it look

I darkened it in premiere after and went a bit too dark really, but you get the idea. I've seen people set lights up to cast cockpit dynamic lighting over the wheel and hands which is pretty nifty. You can hear the loud gear paddles too, so I assume the people that do this properly must use the game audio from a replay or something and switch to that.

I'd say you've pretty much got the POV spot on, did you have to buy the prototype car? Or did it come with something else?

Been watching some ACC this afternoon, can't wait to throw GT4/GT3 cars around there

I had to buy that car to compete in the B licence stuff, as well as sebring (for that particular week).

I also looked at the entry level free stuff I have (rookie licence) So I had a few time trials and a race on a really old little oval track in a stock car, which was actually great fun! The people I was racing against were pretty good really and more respectful of space than the equivalent road type stuff when I was starting out.

Always a bonus when you get a good online race, seems so few and far between in most racing games.

I do quite a few ai races to test out track and car combos and I find even capped at 75% skill, it utterly kicks my ass in a way you don't get against real people. I can live with and overtake cars in the opening laps and then I tend to fall back a lot. It's like the computer can race without any tyre wear or overheating.

Starting to wish Logitech had alternative wheel rims for the pro has now, as I'm increasingly driving cars that don't suit a standard feeling wheel. A Gt/f1 rim would be perfect.

I'm surprised Logitech haven't delved into that side of things yet, makes a lot of sense as they have the quirk release wheel, but then I'm surprised they've not slashed the price of the G923 to £250 brand new and then released a mid range DD wheel as of yet.

What you mention about AI not having tyre wear is something I think is a common issue with quite a few games really, I'm certain they don't in the F1 games (when I used to mainly play those) and I can't comment on ACC, a lot of my time is spent hot lapping, or in 30-45 min races where tyre wear never becomes a huge factor, really should do a 2 hour race, you can save mid race I believe, even on console.

Not sure but I think that might be the original assetto Corsa with some mods. There's much better looking games out there but the vr camera work really helps sell the realism here.

Rally games are worth a look.if you're interested in racing stuff but don't enjoy tracked based games. They are pretty wild and there's never a dull moment, so you have fun without having to nail every corner.

Green hell is coming to consoles on the 2nd of May, a week!! Good timing if I'm honest, leads into my day off so I can hopefully get plenty of laps in even if I'm falling asleep

Keep hearing how good the ring is on ACC, it's using a scan from some point in 2023, so very up to date.

Sweet, let us know how you get on with it! Laser scanned tracks really are impressive, and it's easy to take it for.grsnted how accurate they are. I saw some track, probably the ring, on YouTube recently and it was just identical to how I've been playing it, even down to the car rocking over bumps in certain places. Amazing really.

I've been faffing with my setup again :fp: Currently making a handbrake mod out of the spare clutch pedal from my Pro pedals. I'll post a picture when it's done.
