Give me Sunday cup with fantasy tracks again.

some real life tracks in racing games i cannot stand Laguna seca is a crap boring track i would rather see Road America instead or Sebring. Is so true almost all racing game these days have identical tracks thats what made GT3-4 games so good the track lists in the various championships real life fantasy, street circuit, New York, Tokyo, Seoul Central.

El Capitan was a fun track to race on once you found the groove

Autumn ring mini is a favourite, I love how its just corner feeding into corner, perfect for hot lapping in an overly powerful car so you can never go full power.

My playseat pedal mount just broke :x

3 laps in to a race and i braked to find the pedals push right away from me. It uses some shitty plastic screw bits which have unbonded from the metal, so there's nothing to fix the telescopic part in place. Need to get a ratchet strap or something and run it front to back, see if that works.

I did wonder if that might be an issue with the Playseat down the line, the pedal mount is by far the weakest feeling point. No replacement parts available?

Hope it didn’t affect your SR too much!

Plastic bits are always going to fail, and I have used this chair for about 5 years now. Hopefully a ratchet strap or something should fix it. Luckily I was playing kart Kraft and not iracing, as it's a new iracing season so most races are offline.

Fixed the pedal support with a securing strap so it's all good.

Had a race on iracing against A and B grade racers last night so it was pretty high level. Qualified 2nd, messed up the start yet again (I keep getting stuck between gears when shifting from 1st to 2nd and it sits in neutral, letting people past me. I don't really get why it happens). Made some places back and got up to 4th with 3 laps to go, got overtaken but lined up a pass on the guy, only for him to drop a wheel on the left and spear in to my side as I went past, taking me out and netting 5x penalties :x Fortunatlry I still gained SR, presumably because I was racing in close proximity to people for most of it without any contact. Realistically the best I could of hoped for was 3rd anyway as the leaders were too quick for me.

Not bad. Unfortunate on those five penalties when it sounds like you did nothing wrong, but it still sounds like a great race.

It was fun, and lining up a proper overtake with all the jeopardy that goes with it was very satisfying. I think the threat of SR points being lost really adds to it, as you're very well behaved, as are most people. It also gives more weight to an accident, as it has immidiate and irreversible consequences, and is part of real racing so it's alright really.

Really good race! Definitely seems like you need to keep a fair bit of momentum into the corners with those cars so you have better exit speed.

Very much about momentum, but also getting on the trottle early as its only got 4 gears and you tend to only be in 3rd a lot of the time. It's very tail happy, but I'm so used to it now that it doesn't really show in the video. Very easy to spin on corner entry.

Got 2nd in the world on a time trial earlier, and also just picked up another win. 5 out of 10 races won now, 60% laps lead.

I'm one good result away from C licence now too.

Getting too good at iRacing from the sounds of it!

Meanwhile I’m still playing F1 2021, next racing game I’ll probably get is Forza Motorsport 8 whenever that comes out, so might be onto F1 2022 by then………

Oh don't worry, I'll be crashing back to reality when I move to other disciplines in sure.

How are you finding f1 in general? Its you who's got the G923 isn't it? For some reason, I never felt like I was getting a decent experience out of f12020 with mine, like the game just wasn't set up to work well with it. Horrible understeer all the time. I like the look and format of the game, but I find the racing itself to be a bit flat.

There did seem to be points where it looked like you were fighting to keep it under control in the corners, so I did think it might have been a bit tail happy. I know I would have overcooked it, so was impressed at the level of control you had with it.

Hoping when you next race you can get onto that next licence.

Yeah I do have the G923. It’s a solid experience, still lacking compared to the Assetto Corsa games in actual feel and feedback from the wheel so I find I’ve just upped the feedback levels a bit like in the 2020 game, the under steer is still there, more so in high speed corners (which is why the AI are too quick compared to the player in some high speed corners) but in general the cars feel less stable than the 2020 ones anyway leading to moments where you have to counter steer to stay on track, even when you have relatively new tyres aren’t pushing too hard. I’ve found no problems with the AI yet, probably slightly better than the 2020 game in terms of racing so far but I’ve only done a handful of 25% races and 2, 50% races round Bahrain so not exactly a massive amount of data to get a good picture from. The look and format is a carbon copy of 2020 which isn’t a bad thing as that was very good in my opinion with how it captured F1.

Overall it’s still a very similar experience to F1 2020, I’m happy having paid approx £35 for it but with how similar it is to 2020 I’d have probably been a bit miffed if I’d paid full price for it, I’m still planning on getting the 2022 game at launch though as it’ll be the first one with the new generation of cars, that is unless they absolutely butcher it

I found with all logi wheels that i have to have it on max strength to get the most out of it. I dont know why, but most Codies games just dont feel good with a wheel. I suspect it's the amount they officially support - it's a lot to perfectly calibrate every single one I suppose. Dirt 2.0 is brilliant out of the box I found, and with a little tweaking to my tastes, was perfect.

Just had a huge SR bump from racing against another field of high level drivers. Jumped .46, which is almost 3 times what I got for a win last time, and I only finished 5th, and that's with someone crashing in the back of my car under braking for a chicane. No class C promotion, and reading up on it, it seems I need to do 4 races in D class races, not rookie that the Vee is in. There is only one free car and track I can use to do that, otherwise it's time to stump up quite a lot of cash. I'll just carry on as I have been I think and see how I feel at the end of the subscription period before deciding to pay a lot for a fresh subscription, plus cars and tracks (we're talking hundreds).
