Ah yeah, digital acceleration and braking is ok actually if it's built around it. Like you say, tapping will work. Digital steering though :dread:

Completely agree on the GT career mode. It has a lot of standalone races, but the A.I is so poor that they're no competition at all. There's definitely going to be a GT7 for ps5, just for being a graphical showcase alone.

I found a racing game podcast the other day called 'time extend'. Its well worth a listen.

I've been playing a fair bit of dirt 2 in VR. Absolutely terrifying

I can’t remember the last racing game I played with digital inputs for the steering, maybe Mario Kart DS

I was hoping that WRC 8 would support the analogue triggers of the 8 Bitdo SN30 Pro+ but alas it doesn’t, same with Grid Autosport on the Switch as well :( I never actually got around to playing DiRT 2.0, DiRT Rally was great though! Probably a bit too much wishful thinking but after Grid Autosport and WRC 8 coming to the Switch last year I do wonder if Feral Interactive could port over any more of Codemaster’s library of games, it’d be great having an F1 game on the go so you can load it up if the live F1 race is a little on the dull side. I can’t imagine how good DiRT must be in VR as well.

I’m wondering if Gran Turismo 7 could be a launch window game for the PS5, as you said even if just for a showcase of what graphics it can produce, hopefully it has a full on career mode tagged onto it as well.

Need For Speed is going back to Criterion for the next generation.

I loved Most Wanted 2012 and Burnout Paradise, so this is great news to me. Though I do recognise that the Criterion of 2012 will be pretty different to the Criterion of 2020, I still feel they will be able to make a great game.

I’ve been listening to Time Extend based on your recommendation. While it’s hardly a professional production, the enthusiasm and racing detail they cover is refreshing. It’s given me an urge to revisit racers I shelved years ago like Grid Autosport, Sega Rally Revo and Pure. I can totally relate to their dissatisfaction with the latest Grid game which feels threadbare compared with the original a decade ago.
