Increasing the money still hasnt helped the grind, i still havent won anything more that 30k on the daily roulette and even with the bug you are having to grind the same race over and over. I have been playing for over 70 hours and have quarter of the cars available.

PLAY | Persona 3 Reloaded [3h]
WATCH | Ted Lasso S3, HiJack S1, Red Dwarf S4, Dexter S2
RACE | Chew Valley 10k (June), GNR (Sept), Cardiff Half (Oct)

Ford Mark IV is available now. I bought it and I'm still waiting for the Jaguar XJ13.

Loaded up the PS4 to try and get a little more time on GT7, queue another update :fp:

Edit, there’s only so many races you can do in a row starting 30 seconds behind 1st and 5 laps to win before you get fed up for a bit :fp: Motivation is definitely waning but I want to at least finish off the Cafe Menus, think I’m about 3/4 of the way through them.

Onto menu book 33 now so I’m slowly getting there!

One thing I don’t get is the AIs performance on tyres, its almost like they change on a lap by lap basis to the conditions. I just had a 5 lap race at the A1 Ring, wet race so I put inters on, got into the lead and had a 5 second gap, track started to dry quickly and then the AI were right on my tail when I was still setting purple sector times. This really does feel like a very odd game at times.

Edit, 40 seconds behind at the start of a 5 lap race round Suzuka as well, who at Polyphony actually thought this was a fun way to start every single race?

Just finished off the last menu, definitely time to give this a long break and see what updates are rolled out to it in the future.

I'd kinda thought that this game wasn't really my bag; way too serious and technical for my arcade-y tastes.

But then I saw this:

Apparently there is an update which allows you to place your car into these "toy scenes". At first I'd thought that you could drive around in the environment, but I think it's some sorta photo mode edition. Great stuff! Click to read more on Push Square.

Anyone still playing this? I'm mighty tempted to buy it having not experienced a GT game since GT4 and I just have a real hankering for buying an old cheap Japanese car and slowly building my way up to hypercar glory.

If you can, just play GT4 again  This really isn’t an upgrade on GT4/5/6 in my opinion.

I’ve not touched it since I finished it.

Bored the gooseberry fool out of me tbh. The stuff above about the races is the entire campaign mode. Dog gooseberry fool AI, chase the rabbit races and so on. Good as a hot lap time trial thin, but I stopped after about 28 hours I think it was, and I LOVE racing games.

Oh really? Bummer :(

Does it still have the classic GT career mode where you start with a banger and work your way up?

If you want my copy of it for PS4 you’re more than welcome, just drop me a message. Really can’t see myself going back to it at this point, doubly so with FM8 on the distant horizon.

Chase the rabbit is the best way to describe the ‘racing’ at play here as well, such a fun way to start 99% of the races seconds off the lead. For pure hot lapping I find Assetto Corsa a lot better, if you have a wheel, don’t see that being as good on a pad which is one thing games like Gran Turismo (and Forza Motorsport when I last played it) have going for them, they’re very playable on a pad compared to a lot of other racing games.

As an alternative view I'm not the biggest fan of racing games and picked this up on somewhat of a whim just after Christmas but have been enjoying it as a casual game to jump into now and again to do a few races and licenses.

The core of the gameplay loop is completing 'menus' which are essentially excuses to do particular races and win certain cars. You do start off with more basic cars and slowly work your way towards the supercars.

Appreciate the alternative perspective, thanks sawyer. And thanks for the PS4 version offer, Robbo, but I think I'll leave it.

Going to chew on this a while.

I still dip in here and there. Evergreen game for me. With the Sport mode and the full campaign and the DualSense features it’s the best Gran Turismo has ever been by a distance.

I suppose for me gran turismo used to be everything I wanted until I played something more suited to my tastes. Definitely look in to it if you're a more casual player.
