Well the main menu has two 'options' tabs, one screen apart and both do different things so don't get your hopes up :fp:

Lap I did of the Nordschleife earlier.

The other cars I have are pigs to drive. One Renault thing understeers so badly I nearly have to stop in corners to make them :|

Watching this video I couldn't help be reminded of Thunderbirds and their 'rolling roads' (i.e. the scenery and road is moving, but the car isn't).

Graphically it's not the leap you'd expect at all. I know it's running at 1080p again, but I mean this is GRAN TURISMO. The DON. The racing game that set the standard.

Now I'm just looking at it thinking A) it doesn't look as good as Forza B) it sounds terrible and C) for goodness sakes Microsoft, give us another PGR.

Looks sterile and drab.

I like the box art. Reminds me of 3.

Love a bit of GT and normally I'd rush out to by the next instalment, but unsure about this. Forza 7 does look miles better, which isn't helping, as does PCars 2.

And that after they hired an ex-Turn 10 head audio guy.

GTPlanet have a couple of previews up, the new livery editor looks pretty good with way more manufacturer decals than Forza and a mysterious "personal decal" option which some are suggesting might be for imported images/layers, however the single-player game modes have been pretty heavily gutted; no real campaign with racing cups or series, instead lots of driving school challenges and learning circuits section by section and racecraft. Its a useful suite of tools for getting better at online racing, but I suspect a LOT of people will buy it without having read a lot of this stuff and be thoroughly disappointed.

Polyphony are making a brave move with this almost iRacing-like setup, however I'm very sceptical over whether it'll pay off. Public racing lobbies are an absolute disaster 99% of the time.

And with that I'm out.

Thankfully PCars 2 is a thing.

More on the Single Player:

I hate to say it, but this franchise is going to the dogs. I realise the clue is in the name (it's [e]Sport not 7) but 4 years just to get this out the door?

If the online component isn't outstanding then...well.

I'm not interested in online racing with console peasants and as there's definitely no single player, im out. The argument about licences and such doesnt stand - im already really good at racing games. Being taught how to suck eggs in a racing game doesn't constitute a single player experience.

This.

I've been blasting around on PCars (PC with a wheel) for the last couple of years, not to mention Dirt Rally and Asseto Corsa, so what makes Polyphony think I need lessons to play GT?

If you have a steering wheel at home, the GT tests are probably quite good in helping you learn to drive.

I doubt many will be buying GTSport for driving lessons. :D

As mentioned earlier, a lot of folk will probably buy this unaware that it's not your traditional GT game. I suspect we'll be seeing preowned copies in Game and CEX relatively quickly. GTSport will no doubt sell well at first because it's GT, but it will quickly be forgotten because it's not Gran Turismo 7. With Forza 7 and PCars 2 on the way they should have just developed GT7, not an online spin off.
