Feel in the minority but playing GTA V online I’m
not noticing that much of a difference :shifty: Sure it’s much smoother but I’ve always thought the game looked great even jumping PS3 version to PS4.. not enough to make me buy the main game
for a third time to be honest

Does anybody know how to make it work to invite friends to play together online for the missions, races and so on?

It seems broken and I tried every option to make it work, but such no luck so far.

GTA Online is getting a monthly subscription option; $6 and it starts next week. It only seems that it's gonna be an option for players of the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, though.

Yuk. I guess its the natural expansion of game pass type stuff. If you have a massive game, start a bespoke monthly sub.

Game, PS+/Live etc. monthly sub. Grim.

I see "GTA V: Story Mode (Xbox Series X|S)" listed here on the Xbox store for £8.99, though it says "Requires access to Grand Theft Auto Online for Xbox Series X|S" in the description. So do you actually need to buy GTA Online too?

The one you want is the full game listed in the included in section. Even then, it'll still show as Online with its icon on the apps screen.

Is this Online chat too? This is so utterly confusing to a new player.

Hovering over a waypoint in the map (eg Gerald) seems to suggest he has a series of missions/story…but you randomly get something?

How do you start a mission as host? It seems so hard to play with friends. I’ve set match making to closed but everytime I try to join seem to get into a randoms lobby or get them joining me before I can close/invite friends?

I randomly got into a mission with Dr Dre (which suggests there are series of missions) and got an endless cut scene on him rapping

I picked CEO - should I be doing CEO pick up/deliveries? Nothing seems as rewarding as my free 4m for joining

I’m not sure what I should be doing it’s thrown so much at me

See my post above and I think the friends session is strawberry floated. I seem cannot invite any of my friends to play the missions together.

Thanks DarkRula, thought that would be the case. I would have picked up the story mode at £8.99 for another blast but have no interest in having to fork out extra for the online which I'll never touch.

There's been so much thrown into the game that I'm not surprised it's become confusing for new players. The game itself doesn't help new players, either, since there is so much on the map. Just stick to Invite Only lobbies (which unfortunately does render plenty of business content inaccessible) and run through the original lot of contact missions - most of which can be done solo (some being harder than others). Unless you can get friends together for public sessions, and they have the skill to defend against the mechanical broomsticks that roam the sky, it's better off avoiding the businesses. Unless that is you find yourself in that rare thing any player loves - a peaceful lobby.

I'd say your best bet would be to earn enough to get an Agency, which is how you access the Dr Dre stuff (which you randomly found yourself at the end of), which can all be done solo and in an invite only lobby, and also has the regular security contracts which offer some fun missions with a decent payout.

Cheers had a better session later on. We worked out you can make your own lobbies under "Quick Join" (stupidly named) and did what seemed like a series (Last Call or something)

No idea how you'd do some of them solo - we massively struggled as a team until someone with an suped up all gold car with a canon on top joined :D

Also did a VIP mission? Which got use some money but more importantly was interesting (Machine Gun Limo with 5* police around time).

Earning the million or so money need for a nightclub or the Agency seems a long way off though.

I think I'm getting a handle on it but it's still "Ok. I've logged on. Now what?"

Awesome. Yeah, earning that first million can be daunting, especially when there's little in the way of passive income (which the Nightclub, Arcade, and Agency can all generate) to bolster the money you're earning. Once you get into the swing of things, you'll come to know what you enjoy the most out of the game.

And the Quick Join thing threw me at first, but it's just one of the weird decisions that seems to have been made with this remastering. The three options you get when pressing it were previously on the main menu, but have now been bunched together and labelled in a way that makes it seem like those other options have just completely disappeared.

Hope you continue having fun, for however long you continue to play it.

As I say, there's too much content in your face at all times, so it's a natural feeling to have. Find what you enjoy most and try your best to ignore the rest.

Yeah I kind of wish it made it clearer - I got 4million for joining up but think maybe a Nightclub would have been better than Executive...
It gives so little info for me to spend my way happy.

Also the sticky auto aim is great - but I didn't turn off "all players" in my first job with a friend which resulted in....a whoopse

Got a nightclub :)

Is there any point having multiple of businesses?

Can’t see Arcade but Clubhouse/bunker looks next…

If I remember correctly, as its been a while now..

The more businesses you have the more passive income you can generate via the nightclub. Once you have your businesses up and running you can select them for passive income on the nightclub menus

With the clubhouse you can open coke/weed/meth/fake cash businesses. The more you invest in the business the faster it will fil up for your deliveries, and keep an eye for the wednesday(or was it thursday) offers, some businesses can be x2 for a week, making the return on your investment for a full delivery so much more worth it. However once your stock goes over the second bar, you might get raided by the police and if you dont manage to stop it, you will lose all your stock and have to restart the business (You wont lose all your investment, just the stock and have to do a boring mission to reopen)

A full delivery of the bunker business on a x2 week, can net you over 2m! But sometimes you would need a full crew of 4 and maybe even some backup unless you are playing on an invite only.

Having too many businesses running at once can make you super rich in little time, but I would start with just one business at a time

I caved and bought the starter pack - so have a club house, a fake money lab and a bunker to go with Nightclub/Office.

Think I'll focus on upgrading these for a bit rather than branching out further

No, but your passive income from the nightclub will rise with each business you have somebody allocated to. There are good guides online, but essentially get them all bar the counterfit cash one, as far as I recall. The nightclub passive income is the one I would focus on the most as you earn just for being logged on to the game and just have to do a single sell mission when ready. For the sell mission, buy the Speedo Custom. Fully modified and active on a sell mission, it can take about 8 direct missile hits, so it's probably the safest you can be in freeplay.

The CEO business that provides vehicle missions (vehicle warehouse?) Is a good money earner. There is a trick to ensure you always pick up a high value vehicle, which is probably the most effective grind in the game and doesnt feel too repetitive, essentially its just race to a certain point in the map and avoid being blown up.

I'm happy to pop on the PS5 version with anyone who wants to play some missions. Have pretty much everything set up and haven't paid a penny in shark cards. I do hope that GTA Plus subscribers get a little in game symbol, because I will be griefing every single one of them that I find.

The silly neighbourhood vegetable.

Speedo Custom?
How do you assign it to a sell mission>

Is there anyway on knowing what a mission is before doing it?

I did the Special Cargo but it was 3 air drops - solo meant I only got one back. And then selling stuff I got a mission for a boat delivery, where I was a slow ass tug boat sitting duck
