Red Dead 2 has completely put me off the idea of a GTA 6. It was just so outdated in terms of the core gameplay and it was nothing but a chore to play :(

GTA V online is awful to play alone but is absolutely ace if you do it with a few actual mates. Bit of a slog to get it going but so many fun modes.

I loved the RDR2 world but yeh, as a game it was pretty dire, extremely clunky.

Yeah, RDR2 is a game that love to play. But as you said, it’s very clunky, and the way you do most of the missions have very rigid set of rules.

If you shoot a person too early then you’ll see a “mission fail!” screen. Then load it up again and find that you have to shoot that same person to proceed the mission, only if the game tell you to shoot that person.

It’s annoying and stupid.

The expanded and enhanced versions of Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online are arriving on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with new features and more, on November 11th, 2021. As an added bonus — this summer's updates to GTA Online will include special benefits for players to take advantage of in these expanded and enhanced versions when they drop. Plus, in honor of the upcoming 20th anniversary of the genre defining Grand Theft Auto III, we’ll have even more fun surprises to share — including some specifically for GTA Online players.

While the standalone version of GTA Online will be available to players on both platforms, this new standalone version of GTA Online will be available for free exclusively to PlayStation 5 players during the first three months. And PlayStation Plus members on PlayStation 4, make sure to claim your GTA$1,000,000 by visiting the PlayStation Store at the start of each month — every month until the launch of GTA Online on PlayStation 5.

Ooh, that's a hell of a tease. Surprises relating to GTA III... I guess remasters/remakes are on the cards, after all. November's really looking to be packed month already with this release, then. At least we know there's Online content coming this summer.

Or just a GTA3 theme horn for your car, and a purchasable Claude outfit.

Yeah it's going to be minimal.

I will continue with my last gen GTA V playthrough. It would be lovely to play it at 60fps, but it otherwise still looks and plays pretty great. I'm guessing we won't see FPS boost for the existing legacy title on Series consoles (and am also going to assume it wont be a free upgrade for PS5 / Series consoles).

I don't doubt that any content they put into Online for the celebrations will be small - why would it be something big? - but the celebrations are happening on more than just Online. Ruffian/Rockstar Dundee have been working on something since before they were officially a part of Rockstar. The 3D trilogy has been one of the things brought up by many as the project they've been working on.

I'll remain hopeful but not hypeful, as ever, but that line in the newswire is definitely going to bring more fire to such speculation until it's officially confirmed.

With GTA 6 you'll at least be able to travel the world at speed in a car.

For all of its problems, getting around on horseback was not one of them

It takes (rough estimate) 200 years to get anywhere in RDR2.

I must admit it is really boring at times. You really need to set aside a few hours and really get into the world. Rebought it on series x recently to take advantage of the slightly better resolution, but finding it hard to get into it. Also bought the original which looks lovely on the series x.

Agreed, for a game that's so highly regarded, it just isn't fun to play at all.

It's an absolute chore to play. Which is a shame because the world and attention to detail is incredible.

I felt the same with GTAV single player. Los Santos is one of the most incredible things I've seen in all my years of gaming. You could market Los Santos free-roam (in hi-def) as just a world to explore with no missions for a tenner and it'd be worth it.

But underneath the bonnet it's an empty, soulless experience in terms of gameplay. Seems like such a waste of a game world.

It’s be great if GTA 6 was split between two different periods like Driver Parallel Lines (70s and 00s).
