Is there anything you can do about the pinned threads at the top taking up all that space? They seem to include several lines of the post below the thread title.

"We're GRcade, a forum community tracing its heritage back to the late 90s. We talk about Games and Stuff, and you're welcome to join us".

Prime opportunity to misspell /mispunctuate "You're" and anger the pedants missed there.

Not natively. I found an extension that adds them, but there's no way to turn off seeing them.

When you post in a topic, by default you also follow it. You can then go to the followed topics bit and see all of them there.
