I already said Froch by stoppage, most probably late. I think Taylor will outbox him in the first half of the fight before gassing and getting hurt by Froch. I see it going like the Cotto vs Margarito fight actually, although I don't anticipate the possibility that Froch will cheat like Margarito may have done!
In the five years I've been seriously following boxing I've been keeping tabs on my gambling and I've worked out that I'm up around £320. I'm right much more often than I'm wrong, but I see this one as a 50/50 fight even though I have a clear prediction. The wallet shall stay in my pocket this time, as I don't bet on fights I'm not at least 75% sure of - also, it should be noted that the odds on Froch have been slashed over the last few days for some bizarre reason.
What is Taylor like as a fighter these days? I mean he still is a young man but have heard hasn't been impressive
Not sure when you mean from, so I'll just walk you through his recent history. Generally he has been poor since beating Hopkins for the second time (and second disputable time). There is no shame in walking out of a fight with Winky Wright with a draw, but I felt he lost and it wouldn't have been in question had Winky fought every round. Against Kassim Ouma, a guy he should have completely outclassed and naturally a light middleweight, he looked rattled even though he won by a large points margin. Against Cory Spinks, another natural light middleweight, he struggled again and came away with a split decision. Against Kelly Pavlik, he wasted an opportunity to put Pavlik away early having badly hurt him, only to gass out and get knocked out himself. In the rematch he looked better but timid, allowing Pavlik to control the fight with his jab - losing again but this time by decision. In his last fight he looked fairly good against a washed-up Jeff Lacy, but was knocked down, although the referee didn't count it for an inexplicable reason. He won comfortably, but in truth Lacy was never that good and since his shoulder injury he has been even worse. The psychological damage he got after taking a beating from Calzaghe can't have done his confidence any good either.
So, I'd say Taylor has been distinctly unimpressive. The fact remains though, that he has elite level skills and the raw physical attributes to trouble anyone. I don't think he has the heart for a proper fight though and for that reason I'm picking Froch. Should Taylor be able to keep Froch on the outside, he could walk away with a lopsided decision though, as Froch is far too easy to hit.
