I think we missed doing this at the end of last year.

I don't want there to be a gap, given we've done it since 2006.

Rather than do all the categories, please just vote for your Game of the Year, choosing from any game that was released in 2021.

I've never found it so tough to vote for a GOTY as for 2021. Most of the games I have bought and played were released prior to 2021, even on PS5.

For games released in 2021, I'll have to choose between Fez and Balan Wonderworld. As Fez was a port of an older title, I'll go for Balan Wonderworld :lol:

Deathloop

Never particularly rated this in the build up which is strange because I loved Prey and Arkane are clearly masters at level design and this is another show piece. The early stages of this from hours 5-15 are pretty magical as the world opens up, you get to Grips with the skills and the intrigue of the world is still at its peak. Combat is easy but really stylish and the with the traversal allows you to do some bonkers stuff. The world and the characters are top tier stuff, great joining up all the stories and tinkering with people’s behaviour. It start to lose some of its shine towards the end I found though as I stumbled with some of the objectives and repetition began to be annoying. This was punctuated by what I found to be a very weak ending not offering any satisfactory explanation or revelation but rather just a full stop and a what more do you want. I still went back to tie up lose ends though and watched some lore videos. It has its problems and it may not be a masterpiece but a worthy GOTY in my eyes.

As far as brand new games go, easily Metroid Dread.

Making a tactical vote for Monster Hunter Rise. For me it's between that and No More Heroes 3. The votes for Deathloop and Hitman 3 are also good picks!

I expect Dread to take it here.
