Thanks to everyone who nominated a song. But we have far too many to possibly finish this by Christmas.
So, I've come up with a plan.
There will be two eliminations per day.
One elimination will be the same as usual in these games, there will be a public vote to eliminate in this thread. Whichever song gets the most votes gets kicked out.
The other elimination will be a secret vote via PM. You will need to send me a PM with the song title in the subject line. I will not count any if the song is not in the subject line!
You do not have to vote the same way in the two votes. And you don't have to vote in both, they are separate.
If the same song "wins" (loses?) both votes, then the second placed song (in the thread, not PMs) will be eliminated.
In the event of a draw there will be no tiebreaker, all tied songs will be eliminated.
I am hoping that this will mean we can finish by Christmas Eve.
My theory is that the PM vote will make things more interesting, I often think in these games that people get steamrolled into voting for certain songs, or are voting just to save something. A separate secret vote should keep things exciting. While the in-thread vote will keep discussion/arguments going!
You will have until 10am every day to cast your votes. I'll aim to post the results soon after that. Voting is open now, the first result will not be until Wednesday morning.
Let the eliminating commence! And remember, you are voting for the songs not the artists.

For the secret vote, presumably we’ll just be told the eliminated song(s), and not a run-down of the voting?
Can I make a small suggestion: for the secret vote, have a minimum of two votes required for an elimination. It’s maybe unlikely to happen, but say there were ten votes, all for different songs. They would all be eliminated, each on one person’s say so. That would be a bit rubbish.

Agreed.
Edit:
For the secret vote, you'll be told the eliminated song and how many votes it got, but not who voted for it. I'll avoid listing other songs so as not to influence future secret voting.
