Bit of a noob question but I hit Twitch affiliate last week and as part of the registration process I had to take a couple of interviews on Royalty Tax and Service Tax it then mentioned I'd receive a tax return electronically at the end of the tax year. Do I now have to complete a US tax return?

I wish I had enough experience to help mate, alas I'm a complete noob on streaming and stuff.

Currently having real problems getting sound to work - whatever I try, the capture card is not playing sound at all. I had hoped to stream stuff last night and tonight and instead am tearing out the last few hairs on my head trying to figure out what the strawberry float has gone wrong.

I'll be streaming more FFIII tonight from around 20:00. I'm hunting the elusive Bluck for his potentially limitless XP gains. Definitely no accidentally triggering the end game and losing 2 hours progress tonight.

Technical question. I use an Elgato HD 60 capture card and Streamlabs OBS. Why in the name of God won’t my sound work? I’ve tried everything mentioned in the SLOBS technical guides, on a desktop and two laptops but the sound simply will not work. I don’t think there’s an issue with the capture card but it is seriously strawberry floating me off now.

Decided as I'm playing more games to start streaming it on Twitch because why not

I've been impressed so far playing as I'm playing on a remote pc via Shadow so I'm in the UK but my game is in Paris. Works well :D

Play Dirt 4 on ultra i think it does alright

What do you mean won't work? You can't get sound from the Elgato?

:slol:

I’ve found myself watching the daily races while I’m at work every day and want to see if I’ve gotten any better than my only other attempt, a seven hour epic that I went through before I really understood how the logic worked.

Should be on at 3.30-3.45 - apparently I need to go and pick up rice noodles for the wife first.

Good stuff.

I've drifted away from them myself. I got to the point where I could consistenly finish them in around 2hrs 15 or so, with a couple of sub-2hr runs being the highlights. Took a break from them a few months back and I've not gone back to them yet. Might give a few a try again soon. If I can get sub 2 consistently then I might even enter some of the races myself.

https://www.reddit.com/r/alttpr/ - The reddit community for them is worth a look as well. They do seeds and then compare times/notes. The Weekly Casual Competition ones were what I usually played. Gives you an idea of what kind of times you should be aiming for for any given seed, as well as something to compare to.

It's good seeing your own performance get better and better. I got to the point where I didn't need the map tracker anymore and could do it with just the item tracker. I got so used to where all the chests were and what opened up what.

I'll be working, but I'll have you on in the background. :D

EDIT: My main advice for your first few seeds is to not worry about your time. It should be about learning what opens what. Hopefully you get a couple of easier seeds to start.

Looking at picking up one of those ~£15 HDMI capture dongles to do some Switch streaming but there seem to be a bunch of options on Amazon that all look likely to be the same piece of kit but branded differently!

Looks like they only do 30FPS as well, which to be fair to them isn't bad given the cost! Bit worried about what the lag factor will be like but hopefully it's not too bad.

There was a £20 option which claims to do 60FPS as well but the reviews for that on amazon are either in German or seem to be for talking about either a pair of headphones or a mouse mat rather than the actual dongle so it's hard to be so confident in that purchase!

I got one from eBay and in some ways it's better than the old Elgato that I've got.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HDMI-to-USB- ... SwIMtfGPUW

It'll do 60 fps up to 720p with 30fps for 1080p.

There are a lot of these generic ones now, that all look the same. They're probably the same internally with different branding per company.

Don't go into it expecting bells and whistles, but for £10-£15 they're an inexpensive way to try it out.

I'm hoping for an easier seed to start with, certainly. And yeah, I'm not too bothered about the time - hoping for about three hours but we'll see!

First though...I need to try and get my laptop screen set up properly on OBS because at the moment I'm just getting a black screen.

That looks like the same thing I've been browsing on Amazon (I got screwed by eBay back in the day so basically refuse to use them now)

Yeah I'm not expecting bells and whistles but like you say it should be a good way to try it out!

Can't really go wrong. If it doesn't work, it's "only" £10-15 so you're not screwed out of too much.

They can be fiddlier than the elgatos but I'm liking mine so far.

Has anyone else had an issue trying to stream from their computer where adding the display as part of the scene just shows up a black screen and nothing else? I’ve been trying to add this for ninety minutes with no success.

Try using different capture sources if possible (Window capture instead of game capture for instance) and sometimes you need to click back to the game to make it the active window.

It can be a bit of a dark art on occasion.
