Question - is there a way to test things like sound levels etc. on a stream without actually going live? Having watched some of my own stream from last night back it seems that the game audio is pretty much nonexistent and my mic is barely audible as well! :fp: I guess if you actually have people watching you then they can point this out and you can tweak stuff until they say it sounds good but that still seems like a bit of a backwards way of solving the problem!

Also is there a decent way to boost mic volume? My headset doesn't seem to pick up my voice especially well and I'd rather not have to shout all the time. I expect the answer is probably "buy a better mic"!

OBS let's you record instead of stream. It's great for checking levels etc.

OBS has a "gain" filter you can apply, and there's a "mic boost" option in your sound settings in Windows as well IIRC.

There's a really good site. I can't remember it right now, will quote this when I get back.

Pretty sure it's this actually. https://inspector.twitch.tv/

You basically add a code to the end of your stream key, click live and play for 10 minutes it will tell you about your nitrate, what resolution you should use, if your game volume is too loud, same with voice or quiet and more.

Mic boost seems to be a massive pain in the arse for USB mics, looking online and it's a massive ballache to get something else to do it, cause I couldn't find a way to boost it otherwise.

Thanks for the tips guys - I've been playing around with it tonight but I think I just need to get a better mic. In order to get it setup so that I'm audible I have to set the gain/mic boost so high that there's horrible static in the background all the time!

There's a noise filter option in the same place in OBS. Guide here (just found on Google): https://medium.com/@Wootpeanuts/removin ... 214d967fe0

Nice one, thanks for the link. I shall check out the noise filtering options this evening.

I still think I probably do need to invest in a better mic as even with the gain turned up in both OBS and Windows its still not exactly that loud. But we'll see what I can achieve with some additional tweaking...

Forgive me if this is retreading something that has been mentioned before, but have we ever thought of setting the GRcade twitch channel to host some of our users whenever they are online? Seems a good way of keeping the channel active outside of the scheduled times.

It has been set to auto host, but it was a long while ago. I'll check it out.

Would everyone who streams on Twitch wanna put their name i a post so I can make sure they are added to the auto-host of GRcades channel? Maybe jawa will add them all to the OP?

Oh, do I set it to host people from GRcade in general, those who stream to the GRcade channel or both, but have those that stream to Grcadeuk as the priority if a few a streaming?

I'd go with the last one. Prioritise people who are more involved with channel, but add everyone who streams and is a user on here.
