I guess if you actually have people watching you then they can point this out and you can tweak stuff until they say it sounds good but that still seems like a bit of a backwards way of solving the problem!
Also is there a decent way to boost mic volume? My headset doesn't seem to pick up my voice especially well and I'd rather not have to shout all the time. I expect the answer is probably "buy a better mic"!
