GRcade Game Streamers - join the action!

Still a few kinks to iron out but this is all a learning experience for me and I’m sure I’ll get there.

Can someone a bit more tech savvy give me the gist of upload speed, bitrate and such?

I did a little research on this tonight, now I knew my internet connection was poor but I didn’t realise quite how poor until just now, it’s laughably bad :oops:

With streaming you want a connection of I'd say around 3mb up if you want a lower resolution stream. I think 3300 is the recommended speed for 720p30fps. Bit your net will need higher upload than that.

Basically, go on speedtest.net get your upload speed and use 70% of it for OBS upload.

Amiga? Somebody else said it was fine when I played Sonic as well.

It would have been Master System, I tried NES but could only broadcast sound.

I have a couple of short term ideas in mind to help me out. First I’m gonna play around with a dummy Twitch account so I can tinker with settings, record some stuff and watch it back to see if I can achieve acceptable results with what I’ve got.

Secondly I’m sure there’s some kind of Internet cafe/gaming space in my local city centre which might be able to accommodate me. All I need is like an hour or two access to a decent internet connection a week.

In the long term I really need to consider getting my own internet connection instead of relying on the one included in my rent. A few previous tenants where I live have done just that so I’m sure if I run it by the landlord it’ll be cool.
