I’ve found myself watching the daily races while I’m at work every day and want to see if I’ve gotten any better than my only other attempt, a seven hour epic that I went through before I really understood how the logic worked.
Should be on at 3.30-3.45 - apparently I need to go and pick up rice noodles for the wife first.
Good stuff.
I've drifted away from them myself. I got to the point where I could consistenly finish them in around 2hrs 15 or so, with a couple of sub-2hr runs being the highlights. Took a break from them a few months back and I've not gone back to them yet. Might give a few a try again soon. If I can get sub 2 consistently then I might even enter some of the races myself.
https://www.reddit.com/r/alttpr/ - The reddit community for them is worth a look as well. They do seeds and then compare times/notes. The Weekly Casual Competition ones were what I usually played. Gives you an idea of what kind of times you should be aiming for for any given seed, as well as something to compare to.
It's good seeing your own performance get better and better. I got to the point where I didn't need the map tracker anymore and could do it with just the item tracker. I got so used to where all the chests were and what opened up what.
I'll be working, but I'll have you on in the background.
EDIT: My main advice for your first few seeds is to not worry about your time. It should be about learning what opens what. Hopefully you get a couple of easier seeds to start.
