It's switching between Laga and Maf every couple mins now they're both online, so that's great! Really glad that aspect works (so it's as fair as possible to all the streamers!). Phew :toot:

So you can join me at http://www.twitch.tv/cheekydevlin then for some chat and potential hair pulling

Edit: Make that 9.30.

Cheers for your advice while you were streaming Cora!

I've gotten OBS installed and think I've started to understand a bit about it and integrating it with Streamlabs to have animations and on-screen chat when I'm streaming from my PC.

In the new year I may look at picking up a second hand Elgato just to get started, since it looks like you can pick up a used one for around £70-90 rather than the new price of £160, which is probably better for just starting out to make sure I really am going to keep up with it.

I have an Elgato HD and Elgato HD60 for sale.

30 for the Elgato HD and £60 for the HD60. They cost more from other places.

I am going to see about streaming Resi 2 Remake in a few minutes.

Good stuff Laga, I think going second hand is a good idea for your first shot at it - I had a few vouchers lying about so was able to get mine new for much less than I would've. If I hadn't had them it would've been on to eBay. OBS has done me well when streaming and doesn't take up too much bandwidth on your system. Streamlabs is full of shite and comes close to crashing even my new laptop.

With that said, their chatbot is very good for setting up stuff like voice commands.

I went with Streamlabs OBS first since that seemed to be the one most talked about but the CPU usage was too high, changed to OBS where the CPU usage was almost half as much with the same results. Like I said in the chat, Streamlabs OBS is basically just regular OBS but with tons of unnecessary bloatware added that can be done through their website anyway.

You're best off just using regular OBS and then setting up alerts externally on the Streamlabs website and adding them as browser sources to your scenes. They've got a free chatbot on their website too, as well as a downloadable one that requires a separate application. There's also bots like Nightbot and Streamelements. I've got all three bots for various uses as well as a free-open source one called Phantombot, it takes a little bit more effort to set up since you need to run it from the command line (I've got mine running in the cloud on a Linux virtual box so it's permanently running and I don't need to start it every time I start a stream) but it's better than the others I've used and more customisable.

I'm starting to stream later on this week after my failed attempt earlier in the lockdown, that was mainly because I couldn't decide what to actually stream. But I've decided going forward it'll be only Football Manager 21 that I'm doing so probably not very interesting for the majority of you. Need to get some new lighting ordered next payday thinking the Elgato Key Light they did drop to £140 last Black Friday on Amazon and I've got £60 in vouchers so hoping that'll happen again.

https://www.twitch.tv/chalmersfm if anyone does want to jump on. Aiming for Wednesday to be my debut stream.

I like Phantombot, but I can't get chat and stuff working in browser with it anymore, it says I need to set up SSL or something. I use it for GRcade.

Interesting, I've never had any issues with Streamlabs - although to be fair I use virtually none of the features it offers!

There's instructions how to fix that here https://phantom.bot/guides/#guide=conte ... itchembeds It worked for me.

Which method did you use?

This is what I did but I'm using a Mac
1. Connect to your bot’s built-in webserver (eg. https://192.168.0.2:25000/) and your browser will warn you about the certificate being untrusted.

2. In the address bar, click the little lock with the X. This will bring up a small information screen. Click the button that says Certificate Information.

3. Click and drag the image that looks like a little certificate to your desktop.

4. Double-click the certificate on your desktop. This will bring up the Keychain Access utility. Enter your password to unlock it.

5. Be sure you add the certificate to the System keychain, not the login keychain. Click Always Trust, even though this doesn’t seem to do anything.

6. After the certificate has been added, double-click it in the Keychain Access certificate list. You may have to authenticate again.

7. Expand the Trust section. Find the option When using this certificate and set it to Always Trust.

8. Close and restart the browser.

EDIT: looks like this is what you do on Windows

Connect to your bot’s built-in webserver (eg. https://192.168.0.2:25000/) and your browser will warn you about the certificate being untrusted.

Your browser should provide a More or a Details button which will then reveal some kind of Proceed Anyway or Accept Risk & Continue button.

Once you have done this and the bot’s main page has loaded, you’re done with this step.

Was fun to get into some Final Fantasy VIII, been so long since I last tried to play it. It looks like the Remaster has some battle boosts as well so hopefully that'll help me if I get stuck at the end again.
