Future Gamer started as an email magazine (EDIT: to emphasise, it was not a website) with an associated Usenet newsgroup for the readers to chat. The first issue was November 12 1998.

The Daily Radar US website began a year later, launching November 24 1999. Daily Radar UK was about half a year later, June 19 2000.

Daily Radar UK got its own newsgroup in October 2000, which was a successor to the Future Gamer newsgroup. The Daily Radar US web forum was a couple of months later, in December 2000.

The Daily Radar UK web forum, using a forum software called Snitz, succeeded the newsgroup around May 2001. Then a lot happened in June 2001: Daily Radar US was unceremoniously shut down and replaced with a generic landing page; Daily Radar UK began to redirect to a new website, GamesRadar; and GamesRadar continued to link to the Daily Radar UK forum.

That summer (by August 2001) the forums were renamed to the GamesRadar UK forums. The forums were moved to the familiar address forum.gamesradar.com - as well as to the PhpBB software we still use, and adopting the subtitle "Games and Stuff" - in July 2002.

Was GRcade really 2008?
I can't have joined in 2006 then...

When did Texas Hold'em release on the Xbox live arcade?
I can't find anything online. That's when I joined

"Club U" was mentioned for the first time. Click here to view the original post.

A GRcade historian, when asked about Club U in 2021, wrote:Club U membership swiftly grew as GRcadians from across the globe joined up to share their love for the Wii U console; fans were eager to talk about the system and Club U became a powerful force on the forum.

Club U continues to this day, with many folk continuing to buy and enjoy Wii U games for their newer Switch systems. Some GRcadians have said that they feel a reverence for the Club and that it has been a major influence in their lives.

Didn't the old Edge website forums fold into Gamesradar at some point? I remember being on there around 1999 before moving to DR in 2000.

Also Steve's Xbox 360 needs adding to the timeline.

I think Edge closed their forum and people migrated across. They were never formally merged though.

People on the old Edge forum mostly went to Rllmuk.

EDIT: Rllmuk has almost as long a history as we do, especially if you count the Edge forums.

EDIT 2: Yeah, I'm not invested enough to search for the exact dates but it seems they got a newsgroup in 2000ish and then a forum in 2001ish. Similar progression to Daily Radar. If you count us as going back to Future Gamer we have a couple of years on them though.

Let's not forget the time that JK went out for a bottle of milk and got a logo for it. And also the time JK's girlfriend found the forum, and he was never seen again.
