That looks great! One of those concepts that seems so obvious as soon as you see it, and is all the more clever for it

That does look really nice, and yeah the concept is so simple and obvious when you think about it!

Really like the graphical style on that as well.

It reminds me of Overcooked in a way, teamwork seems key.

Do you like rhythm games?

This is in early access at the moment, though it's pretty dang good already. Only 15 songs right now, but it's a varied and good selection (IMO).
It's perfectly playable with M&K (not sure how it plays with a controller), but it also has support for MIDI devices (like DJ controllers):

I played through Spooky Ghosts Dot Com, a little Metroidvania that comes in under two hours. It was fine, the premise and stylings are attractive even if the quality of the art is middling and severely lacking in animation (enemies and even bosses having no death animation, just disappearing on death, would be one of my biggest criticisms of the game!). There wasn't much in the way of new moves - only a charge attack that can destroy walls and an airdash that grants invincibility. The other upgrades were health increases, extended iframes, and then an over-reliance on keys to gate off progress, so it fails on that major aspect of metroidvania. It did however have some relatively fun bosses, the difficulty curve was about right, and it never outstayed its welcome. Not a bad way to pass an hour or two if you pick it up in a sale I reckon.

A few of us got to together last night for a Games Night which was a lot of fun. We played a few rounds of Towerfall which went down well. We also played a game called Crawl which was really interesting and also really good, it seems to take around 30-40 mins to do a complete match so it’s more in depth than other multiplayer games.

Anyone played Crawl before?

Started playing Katana Zero tonight and wow, this is right up my street! Love the look and sound of the game and the story has me intrigued to see where it goes. Gameplay reminds me of Hotline Miami which I also loved so that’s why this is clicking with me.

I really love the idea of Crawl, but I simply don't have a group of friends regular enough to meet and get use out of it. I know there's an online option but I feel that's sort of beside the point.

Does it have an online option? I didn't think it had one (On Switch anyway) i'll have to take a look later.

Maybe I was wrong about that, as I say my interest never went beyond really liking the launch trailer, but I thought I heard it did

Julian Gollop's long-awaited (and much-delayed) X-COM spiritual successor Phoenix Point will finally launch on PC next Tuesday, 3rd December.

Free with PC Game Pass, out Q1 2020 for XB1 on Game Pass.

I bought Shalnor Legends on Switch as it was on sale for 89p

It's the worst Zelda clone I've played in a long, long time. I couldn't reach 15 minutes of playtime.

At least my list of Switch zelda-likes narrows

Great news, been waiting for this one for a long time now. The modern XCOM games have been fun but I'm really excited to see what Gollop does with Phoenix Point.

I've had my eye on it for a while too, looks great.

Still an Epic game store exclusive though :dread:

Yeah I'll be getting it on Game Pass. I can see why they've gone for Epic Store exclusivity, they're a small studio so a guaranteed payout is probably very tempting.

I don't know that their last game Chaos Reborn sold all that well either so they could do with some stability I imagine.

Just downloaded Kind Words on a whim

It's a tiny game where you write requests for kind words or give kind words to others and it's...sort of amazing? It's basically Internet PostSecrets with an anonymous reply option. So far it's been strawberry floating lovely, with no arseholes or trolls or anything and just waves of positivity.
